Chapter Ten:
“Let go, guys!” Hongki ordered.
“No, hyung!” Jaejin and Jonghun shouted in unison.
“Why do you want to attack us?” Junsu asked, frowning. “I know we fought in the past, but we need help now.”

“We aren’t getting help from them,” Jinwoon stated. “I don’t want to be aided by the enemy.”
Taecyeon laughed at him. “Are we really in a position to do anything?” he asked the youngest. “That bastard and the others are most likely trailing us. Once that bastard finds us, who knows what’s going to happen?”
“You’re the idiot that attacked him,” Changmin recalled. “Why did you act like that anyway?” He scrutinized the younger’s face.
“Wait, you attacked another member of One Day? Why would you attack your ally?” Minhwan questioned.
“See my leg?” Junsu asked. They all nodded. “Jaebe-I mean, our leader broke it.” He glanced at Taecyeon before staring at the ground. “He got mad at me for-”
“No good reason. So what if you told me that he threw a book at you?”
“Taecyeon, you kicked in his door.”
“You even threw a brick at his head…and hit him.”
“A brick? I thought I picked up a rock.”
“That just shows how dazed you were. Hyung, what made you snap anyway? It’s not like someone died or got-” Jinwoon’s eyes widened and he turned his gaze to Junsu. “You got hurt. That’s what happened.”
“Taecyeon, is my getting hurt what causes you to snap?”
He shrugged. “I don’t know.”
“Let’s try it and see.”
“What?” Junsu and Taecyeon asked. They stared at Changmin as if he were insane. “No way, hyung!”
“Jinwoon, if you’ll go get a twig or something of equal length.” Changmin grabbed Taecyeon’s wrist as Jinwoon did as he was told. When the youngest returned, he had a twig in his hand, a confused expression on his face. “Alright, Jinwoon. Poke Junsu kind of roughly on his shoulder.”
“Okay…?” He did as he was told, not sure as to why Changmin was telling him to do it. “Now what?”
“With the same amount of force, poke Junsu’s bro-”

“I don’t like where this is going,” Taecyeon interrupted him.
“Shhh! Just wait. Poke his broken leg, Jinwoon.”
Gulping, Jinwoon closed his eyes and jabbed the twig at Junsu’s leg. When the elder yelped, Taecyeon lunged at Jinwoon.
“Yah, stop that!” he growled.
“Do it again, Jinwoon.”
Following orders, Jinwoon poked Junsu again, another yelp sounding. Once again, Taecyeon lunged at him, trying to make him stop, but with Changmin’s hold stopping him. The others just stood there, watching as the people who were supposed to be friends, terrorize each other. Taecyeon managed to free one hand and he hit Changmin in the face, causing him to lose his grip.
“Yah, knock it off, Jinwoon!” He pushed the youngest away, snatching the twig from him in the process. He snapped the twig and threw it to the side.
Jinwoon glared up from the ground. “Hyung, don’t shove!”
“Don’t hurt my hyung and we won’t have any problems.” He looked at Junsu. “Are you okay, hyung?” His expression was totally different now. It changed from angry and hostile to a look of genuine worry. “Would you like me to help you get to a doctor?”
“Taecyeon, you don’t find anything wrong with that?” Junsu asked.
“Wrong with what?”
“You just hit our hyung in the face and shoved Jinwoon-ah. Something is definitely wrong with you.”
“Not only that, but you threw a brick at Jaebeom’s head and-” Changmin stopped abruptly at he hostile look returning to Taecyeon’s eyes.
“Who? Who did I throw the brick at?”
“Uh…Jaebe-”
“That bastard!” Jinwoon shouted, drowning out Changmin’s voice. He gave the eldest a pleading look, hoping he wouldn’t mention Jaebeom’s name around Taecyeon.
Hongki’s phone rang, his friends finally releasing him so he could answer it. “Hello?” he asked into the receiver. The volume was loud enough for everyone to hear the person on the other side.
“Stupid boy,” a familiar voice laughed.
“Zhoumi?”
“Yes, it’s me. You led me right to Sungmin and Kyuhyun thinking that I’d just let them be happy? Why don’t you take a walk over to their place and see if you can stop me from killing one of them.”
“You bastard. You lied to me?”
Zhoumi laughed again. “You think I’d actually help you?” He laughed again, making Hongki’s eyes burn with angry tears. “You led Henry straight to Ryeowook and Shindong while leading me back to Sungmin and my Kui Xian.”
“You used hyung?” Jaejin asked into the phone.
“Of course! While else would I have allowed him to meet us? Your only purpose to us was to lead us to them. Now that we’ve found them, you’re useless. Goodbye.” Zhoumi disconnected the call.
“He used me…?” Hongki put his phone in his pocket and turned in the direction of the police station. He started toward it. “Nobody uses me…I’ll get them back…I swear it…”
“Hyung, where are you going?” Seunghyun asked, walking after him.
“I’m going to get my pride back! As well as get even. Nobody uses me and gets away with it.”
“We’ll go with you,” Taecyeon stated.
“Why the hell would we let you come with us?”
Sighing, Taecyeon looked at him, eyes showing his sincerity. “I’ll help you get back at them. Revenge is what I’m good for. It’s why the military kept me around.”
“Are all the members of One Day kept around for specific reasons?” Taemin asked. All eyes turned to him after he spoke. He cowered behind Jonghyun again, terrified of them.
Taecyeon walked started to walk toward him, receiving a growl from the young boy’s protector. “Back away,” he murmured, eyes sharper than swords.
Not at all worried at the response, he stopped only a few paces away from them, arms up in surrender. He knelt down and bowed his head. “I ask that you please forgive me. I was following orders from…that person…when I hurt you. It’s one of the only things I’ve ever regretted in my life.”
“You’ll never get my-” Jonghyun started.
“I forgive you,” Taemin interrupted.
“Taemin-ah, you can’t be serious! He jumped you for no reason!” Minho reminded him. Before he was finished, Taemin was shaking his head.
“Minho hyung, I know he jumped me, but I still forgive him.”
“How can you forgive him so easily?” Jinki questioned.
The youngest smiled a little, finally looking at his friends. “Forgiving someone isn’t easy, even when it’s the right thing to do. But in order for both the victim and assailant to be able to move forward, they have to forgive each other.”
Taecyeon looked up at Taemin. “Really? You forgive me?” When the younger nodded, he jumped up and closed the space between the two of them, impulsively mashing their lips together.
“H-hyung?!” Jinwoon gasped. The Five Treasures, few members of One Day, and Taemin’s friends were all stunned at the sight.
Taecyeon pulled back, his hands still on either side of Taemin’s face. “I-I’m sorry. Why did I just do that?”
“Yah, Taecyeon!” someone shouted from down the road. They all turned to see who it was.
“S-Seulong? What are you doing here, hyung?” Junsu stuttered.
“I came here to look for you guys. Sergeant Park is a tyrant.”
Taecyeon snorted. “What else is new? He’s always been that way.”
“I came here with Nickhun, Jokwon, and Wooyoung to join the four of you. Taecyeon, I heard about what happened between you and Park.”
“We didn’t believe it at first, but when we saw the door to his room at the barracks kicked in, we knew it was true. We also heard that he abused Junsu,” Nickhun explained.
“Wait, you want to join us?” When Jokwon nodded, Changmin smiled. He pulled Jinwoon over with him to Seulong and Jokwon. “Looks like 2AM is reunited.” He looked over at the approaching footsteps, not at all surprised to see Junho and Chansung running up to the town.
“We’re ditching the prick, too,” Junho said.
“It looks like 2PM will be regrouping as well.” At the eldest’s words, the members of the former One Day smiled. They knew they would be fighting together if the previous leader showed up. Knowing that gave them the security they so desperately needed. It may be a happy reunion for them, but elsewhere, more trouble stirred.

“You have to make them beg, Jung. If you don’t, you aren’t fit to be an assassin,” Jaebeom stated. “Get Zhoumi and Henry over here.”
“But they aren’t a part of the military,” Jung recalled “Why do you need them?”
“They’re old friends of mine. I’ve helped them track down their traitorous love interests to that pitiful town called Lakeside.”
“The military keeps you around for your stalking abilities?”
“I’m not a stalker, Rain!” He took a deep breath. “I’m not a stalker, I’m a tracker. There’s a fine line between the two. Now get going!”
Rain nodded, saluted Jaebeom, and left without a sound. He grinned when he noticed the rain pelting the buildings and vehicles. “My kind of whether.” He climbed onto his motorcycle, pulled on the helmet, then sped toward the little town. “Maybe I’ll run into some friends of my own. Have you been doing well, Seungho?”
