DISH Network

Does anyone here have Dish Network? We currently have Time Warner Cable but seem to be paying way too much for what we have. Dish Network has some interesting packages at pretty decent prices but I don't know anyone who has it to ask if they have any issues or wish they had gone with something else. Unfortunately, Verizon Fios is not available in ( Read more... )

we had DirecTV, which is a giant scammy piece of crap. Service gets interrupted when it's cloudy or rainy. But the main problem with DirecTv was the customer service, maybe Dish has better?

Is this really true? We're considering getting Direct TV, but we're in Portland, OR where it's ALWAYS cloudy and/or rainy.

We're in Florida, where we have rainy days/cloudy days/hurricane days. Usually, a little bit of rain/cloud cover wouldn't knock it out, but if the cloud cover was heavy enough for thunderstorms/heavy rain, then we wouldn't be able to get service.

I'm in Vancouver and we've got Direct TV and have yet to have any issues with getting a signal.

My parents, who live in a slight valley in Sherwood that is constantly foggy would occasionally get an interrupted for fuzzy signal, but it was usually brief and no worse, if not better, than any other service they've had for TV.

We have Dish Network... previously we had Comcast (aka Cox) cable. It's much cheaper than the cable, but otherwise I've not been wildly impressed. It tends to have trouble during rainstorms, which are not usually a problem in Colorado, except for this summer. Also, we've already had to replace the box once (we've had it about 4 months), presumably due to a power surge during the aformentioned rainstorms. No idea how it will do if we get any big snow this winter.

Their customer service, however, is *far* better than Comcast's. Their phone help is much nicer and more capable, and they sent us a new box within three days of our call.

My opinion only but we had dish and my husband currently works for them and neither of us would recommend it. to much down time during inclement weather, to long to get an appt. to get someone out there and bad customer service. I actually worked there for a little while but quit because i hated the way they encouraged us to lie to the customers.

We have att uverse and love it!

If you work for Dish then you must live in CO right? (I used to work in the corp office). I looked but att uverse isn't in CO yet. How did you get it?

We had Dish. I liked it. It was cheap and I don't care enough about tv to be bothered by rare (every other month) issues with inclement weather. If you get a good installer you are in good shape.

We now have DirecTV because they have better HD and better sports programming. I know people who love and hate it, my experience has been ok except in bad weather. it's still about half the price of the local cable company and I am cheap, so....

it's so strange, because our cable TV is $40/month for a ton of channels - the same channels that we paid $80/month with DirecTV...*with* the special one-year discount which they never actually managed to give us. So we were paying $120/month.

I had Dish for years and was quite happy with it.
