"Alright, shoot."

Gil said warily. It wasn't like he had a choice, he thought - Not unless he was planning to fight his way out of this house, that is.

"Ahh, thank you. It is - I am missing a member of my Household, you see. Blackie has not come home for almost a week now - "

Gil stared at him, then. He couldn't help it.

"Wait, I have photos, here - No, not this one, not - "

The silver tentacles were busy, now, waving around several envelopes of some kind.

"There should have been something more - Wait a moment, please."

"No. Wait. - You want me to look for your dogAnd that was when one of the envelopes the silver tentacles were juggling just slipped and what was inside flew all over the bed he was on ( ... )

The very next day, Gil Beilschmidt, Troubleshooter Extraordinaire (and yes, those capital letters were supposed to be there - He was awesome, after all) was driving a very nice shiny black Toyota down the winding road. The car wasn't his - yet -but he was pretty sure that it would be, soon enough. 'Silver' (as he had dubbed the Silver Tentacle Monster of Taranis Lake) had promised him the car as part of his payment, as soon as he brought in some results - And Gil tended to be pretty good at getting results, if he said so himself.

And that was the Diner that the disappeared had last been seen at, hmmm?

And that was when a strangely familiar voice came floating over the breeze -

"Hey, Gil! Gil Beilschmidt, is that you!? Hi Gil hi!"

Gaaah, what? Oh, fuck - Fluffy Big Dog alert, swerve, swerve...

Oh, hell. If he ended up totaling his new car before it even really was his, he was going to kill that stupid dog...thing ( ... )

Gil and Feliciano both looked at the man who said he was Blackie Franklin's brother.

"Um...What's your name, Mister?"

Feliciano said, atypically seriously. Gil winced. Why the pup - Well, alright, he wasn't really a pup anymore, even Gil had to admit - thought he had to talk in dog-form when people who they weren't quite sure were 'in the know' were about...

"Oh, yeah, so I was right."

The man looked at Feliciano, snickered, and then looked at Gil.

"Cute little Hell-Hound you have there, man."

Hell Hound?

"I suspect that's not really what they call themselves, but whatever." Gil sighed.

Feliciano, on the other hand, was twitching with a rather annoyed expression on his face.

"Come now, could be worse - He could be calling you a Hell-Puppy, you know that."

The brown-haired man snerked.

"Alright, so you're one Blackie Franklin's brother, you say? So what is your name ( ... )

Gil nearly facepalmed as he saw Frankie Franklin go down like a sack of potatoes. Oh, damn it - It really was him, wasn't it.

"Hey you there - Jonathan Franklin! Long time no see, eh?"

Gil walked into the clearing in front of the cabin, eyes going crimson all the way. It just had to be that one, yeah ( ... )

Blackie Franklin looked at the waving mass of silver tentacles.

He was pretty sure the waving mass was looking back at him, though he still couldn't figure out how.

"So your father - "

"Just was a bit - Overenthusiastic. He is getting old, Sir, and ( ... )
