"So what do we do now, Gil?"
Feliciano asked, twitching under his coat.
"Follow him, or..."
Hmph. Gil thought about that.
"Well, it's not a good idea to try to talk to him in the Diner, probably. Let's say we follow him - For long enough to see which way he's going, anyway. And Feli?"
"Yes?"
"Go doggie again, would you? I don't want to be picked up for having a half-naked ...whatever you are in the car."
Feliciano pouted. "I have the coat on, don't I? - Oh, well, never mind."
Feliciano flickered, and panted with his tongue hanging out, very much a big cute fluffy dog again.
"Better?"
"Much. - Alright, he's finished eating now."
Gil looked at the man in the Diner talking to the waitress. Feliciano the dog looked at the man with him, tongue handing out.
"I wonder what he's asking her?"
"So do I. Alright, let's see..."
Gil and Feliciano watched the brown-haired man get into his car and drive down the road. Gil's eyebrows rose as the man turned left, in the direction Gil himself had come from, not so earlier in the day.
"...Is he going to Ludwig's place?"
"We'll just have to see, wouldn't we. - I'm not sure we should just let him go there, if he is, though..."
"Well..." Feliciano wriggled. "I'll have to tell Berlitz, then, I think. She would be mad at me if I knew - somebody like that - was heading toward Ludwig's Place and I didn't tell her..."
"Berlitz?"
"Oh, she's one of Ludwig's bodyguards, and she's very pretty! But she's really scary as well when she gets angry. And I wouldn't want any relative of Blackie going off to Ludwig without Ludwig knowing, either, now that I think about it - I mean, Ludwig might get hurt or something."
Gil somehow thought that that was rather unlikely, but then, unlikely things did happen occasionally, and it wasn't like he knew the Silver Tentacle Monster like Feliciano apparently did.
"So we'll try following him till we're sure he's heading for Lake Taranis, and then we think about what to do."
Feliciano gave a doggie grin at that. "Alright!"
As things turned out, Gil and Feliciano never got to follow the way all to Lake Taranis.
The car stopped at the crossroads, in front of the signs.
And then the brown-haired man looked right at them.
"- Howdy. So this is the way to Lake Taranis, right?"
Gil sighed. "Yeah?"
The man's eyes looked at him, and then at Feliciano the dog in the car.
"So, the two of you work for the Man, here?"
Gil sighed yet again, as Feliciano wriggled.
"The Man as in...?..."
"Oh, 'e likes to go swimming a lot, I hear."
The man said laconically.
"But you see, I didn't come here to meet the Man himself - Well, not really. What I want to do is talk to my brother. 'is name's Blackie, Blackie Franklin - And I'll be mighty grateful if you could point me his way."
Feliciano asked, twitching under his coat.
