"So, then." Gil said, watching the man who had called himself Frankie Franklin, brother to Blackie Franklin.
"What next?"
"Weeeelll..." Frankie scratched his head.
"There's no point in heading out for Lake Taranis if Blackie isn't even there, I suppose..."
"That is that." Gil allowed.
"So I'll just go..." The man shrugged, grinning slightly. "Elsewhere. Right?"
"If you say so." Gil said, slowly.
"I do so say so. So then - Goodbye. And goodbye to you too, mutt-thing."
Feliciano the dog wagged his tail in what was apparently an automatic gesture. Gil just sighed.
Gil and Feliciano watched Frankie go driving off the way they came.
"...Gilbert?"
"Hmm?"
"I think I should go now." Feliciano's voice was uncharacteristically quiet.
"Yeah. Maybe you should."
Gil watched Feliciano the dog go running off toward Lake Taranis, and took of after Frankie Franklin.
It didn't take long for Frankie to go off the road, and then stop his car. Gil sighed - It seemed like the man was prepared for a long walk in the woods.
Not that Gil was entirely unused to the concept of long walks in wild terrain, but still.
Gil followed the man quietly. Oh, he was pretty sure that Frankie knew that he was following him, or at least trying to, but it was the principle of the thing.
It took an hour and a half to get where Frankie apparently wanted to go, and the weather had gotten noticably worse in the meanwhile. Gil looked up and sighed - A rainstorm, now? How bloody wonderful.
And this was - a small log cabin, built in the woods. Curious indeed - But then, Gil had used to know somebody who liked to make his little hidy-holes look like this, back in the day, so he was not as surprised as he might have been.
And anyway, what was really interesting was the time Frankie spent trying to scout out the cabin. Gil sighed, and prepared his own gun. And his sword as well - One couldn't really be too cautious in this case, he felt...
But anyway - Frankie seemed to have reached a decision. Gil focused, as Frankie drew in a deep breath and opened the cabin's door.

And promptly got clubbed down.
