Doctor Who Meme: Day 1.

So I did some searching, and I found a 30-day Doctor Who meme.  I swear I'll finish this one.  I thought of doing the 30-day music meme, but my musical taste is so eclectic that I could never choose.  Doctor Who is so much easier to have opinions about.

Thankfully, this is fairly New!Who centric.  It's not that I don't like Classic!Who, but I've ( Read more... )

Ooh, Nine looks gorgeous in the pic! ... *cough* Anywho, I totally agree of course. I actually find it hard to believe that Nine is seen as the "moody, sad" one when Ten had that, like, three special episode arc where the end was always "AND THE DOCTOR IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LOOOOOOOOOOOONELLYYYYYYYYYY DDDX." Where with Nine it was poignant, Ten just got absurd.

Anyway, I think my favorite thing about Eleven is how much he's an old soul in a young body. Matt Smith does a terrific job with that, just terrific. I too was worried when I saw those pictures of a scrawny pale young man standing in front of the TARDIS in a gloomy alley.

Yes, he does. I think it really highlights his eyes. Something about the background makes him seem majestic, too.

A friend once told me the same thing. I think Nine gets that rep because Ten started out so bouncy in the beginning, and then they added the angst by the boatload. By the three-episode-arc, do you mean "Utopia/The Sound of Drums/The Last of the Time Lords"? Yeah, that was pretty insane. And by the end, I was like, "Yeah, you're alone. You brought that on yourself." *eyeroll*

I definitely agree. They basically took the happy->depressed thing Nine had and took it to hyperbolic levels with Ten, making him super-bipolar, to the point where I wondered why they didn't take him to those hot springs out west with the lithium deposits that Teddy ( ... )

Heh, I was actually thinking of "The New Doctor/Planet of the Dead/Waters of Mars." I think he has a decent reason to be angsty for the "Utopia/Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords" arc, given the return of the Master and the effed-up relationship there.

I was annoyed that Ten got such fanfare when he left---I don't think any other Doctor got quite the send off he did
Eh, I'm mostly okay with that, because he was around for three seasons as opposed to one, and he was a really popular Doctor.

I liked "The Next Doctor" because it had really good supporting characters and that quick little homage to all ten Doctors, but yeah, the other two were crazy. "Planet of the Dead" was nothing but filler, and not even really good filler; also, Lady Christina came across as remarkably unsympathetic---I wanted to like her, but I couldn't. "The Waters of Mars" was better---Adelaide Brooke was a really good character---but Ten just seemed like such an insane, egotistical jerk by the end that I wasn't satisfied. I'm not even sure what the point of the specials was and why they couldn't just have Ten regenerated and head into Season 5 a year earlier. I guess RTD just wanted a lot of fanfare when he left.

Eh, I'm mostly okay with that, because he was around for three seasons as opposed to one, and he was a really popular Doctor.Well, Tom Baker was around for seven years, and he just got to watch his companions flash before his eyes really quickly. And it makes me think, "Is Eleven going to get an ending like that? Will every Doctor ( ... )
