So I did some searching, and I found a 30-day Doctor Who meme. I swear I'll finish this one. I thought of doing the 30-day music meme, but my musical taste is so eclectic that I could never choose. Doctor Who is so much easier to have opinions about.
Thankfully, this is fairly New!Who centric. It's not that I don't like Classic!Who, but I've

I actually find it hard to believe that Nine is seen as the "moody, sad" one when Ten had that, like, three special episode arc where the end was always "AND THE DOCTOR IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LOOOOOOOOOOOONELLYYYYYYYYYY DDDX."
A friend once told me the same thing. I think Nine gets that rep because Ten started out so bouncy in the beginning, and then they added the angst by the boatload. By the three-episode-arc, do you mean "Utopia/The Sound of Drums/The Last of the Time Lords"? Yeah, that was pretty insane. And by the end, I was like, "Yeah, you're alone. You brought that on yourself." *eyeroll*
Where with Nine it was poignant, Ten just got absurd.
I definitely agree. They basically took the happy->depressed thing Nine had and took it to hyperbolic levels with Ten, making him super-bipolar, to the point where I wondered why they didn't take him to those hot springs out west with the lithium deposits that Teddy Roosevelt was fond of. Also, I was annoyed that Ten got such fanfare when he left---I don't think any other Doctor got quite the send off he did, and he was in arguably the worst condition, as a hero. So here's "Vale Decem" set to Nine's regeneration because he got the short end of the musical stick.
Me, too. It's kind of a refreshing contrast (I haven't seen enough of Five, so I don't know if he played that up). Instead of trying to balance bouncy and depressed, Eleven goes more for bouncy vs. wise and ancient. I also love that he's letting go of the Time War. He's the exact opposite of what I thought he'd be---more moodiness in an unconventionally attractive shell to draw in teenage girls. I've met very few people who dislike him (except a friend of my brother's who thinks he's a jackass---the kid must've missed "The Waters of Mars").

Heh, I was actually thinking of "The New Doctor/Planet of the Dead/Waters of Mars." I think he has a decent reason to be angsty for the "Utopia/Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords" arc, given the return of the Master and the effed-up relationship there.

Eh, I'm mostly okay with that, because he was around for three seasons as opposed to one, and he was a really popular Doctor.

Well, Tom Baker was around for seven years, and he just got to watch his companions flash before his eyes really quickly. And it makes me think, "Is Eleven going to get an ending like that? Will every Doctor have to have that now?" Nine's regeneration was treated as a good, simple rebirth (like a phoenix) borne out of heroic sacrifice, whereas Ten's seemed like The End Of All Things...even though it wasn't.
