Achievements today so far

As I fully expected, I didn't go back to bed when I got home this morning. It is lunchtime now and so far today I have achieved the following (gosh it is all a million times simpler when there isn't a lively four year old in the house ( Read more... )

books, laundry, housework, school, tv, cleaning, shopping, busy

I'm always a bit nervy about TV/film adaptations of books because they make such a mess of them sometimes, but from the first episode it looks as if the BBC've made a good job of Tess.

If you tie two carrier bags together by the handles, you can sling them over your shoulders, one in front and one behind, assuming you've forgotten your rucksack.

Ah. Now first thing this morning, I thought to myself 'I must take my rucksack to Tesco; I'll be able to carry more stuff home' - and then never thought of the word 'rucksack' again until reading your comment just now.

Next time, I shall remember that! I did take reusable bags with me, but not the sort whose handles readily tie together. Great idea though, thank you!

It looks bloody daft, but it hurts a lot less.

My little sister and I did a lot of the grocery shopping from when I was 14 or 15 and we used to carry four bags over our shoulders and one or two in each hand.

I hope Tess comes on the telly here in due course. I did Tess for A-level and really enjoyed it. I enjoyed all my A-level texts actually, I was really lucky with them.

You must feel like a prisoner who's out on parole right now, all that freedom! :-)

How odd, Pigeon Post is one of my least favourite of the Arthur Ransomes! Not that I dislike it, it's just that if I were ranking them in order of favourites it wouldn't be up the top.

I just love the whole Timothy storyline, it makes me giggle every single time! And with the weather we have had in Britain this summer, reading about a hot summer where the becks have all dried up, everyone is praying for rain and terrified of fire breaking out when it is all so dry... I think I was getting my vicarious summer from it! ;-)

Wow! You are a superstar :) I've just had a hot choc with squirty cream too :)

I have a heavy shopping tip too. I have a shopping trolley that I bought at Ikea, but the luggage stall in our outside market now sells funky ones too.
