We recently lost our hedgies. They were doing the same thing. Coming out of their igloos and sleeping out in the open. None of them were particularly young but it was still so sad for us. I feel your pain.

When my first hedgie was on her way out, she slept out in the open as well. I'm so sorry for your loss. *hugs*

I'm sorry. That's a hard decision to face. :(

I'm so sorry that you have to make that decision. I have two young hedgies and I can only imagine what it would feel like. I suppose you can only take comfort in all of the good times you shared with Romeo and knowing that he won't be in pain any more. I wish you the best <3

That is a really tough decision to make, I am very sorry *hug*

I guess you have made sure that he is not in any drafts ...? With the open bars they are very susceptible and if it is lessthan 75F they can go into hibernation.

Thanks. No drafts, no cold air. He's lived indoors his whole life and it's been in the 80s. We don't get very cold weather in florida anyway~

What about his bedding? Have you tried keeping him on something other than wood shavings?

That's aspen, but I kept him mainly on Carefresh.
