For old time's sake...

Well, consider this a test of how many people still watch this community. It's been a while since At World's End came and went, but with rumors of PotC 4 a-grinding in the mill, it might be time to bring this baby back.

What d'you say, guys?

After I read the tragic past excerpt, I assumed this was going to be some kind of Rose of Versailles mashup.

all the savings and money goes to the first child born, and my riches will NOT go to a baby girl

I complain about how simplistically a lot of historical fiction takes family relationships, but this about takes the cake.

And yet, oddly enough, except for that one example of hideously overdone misogyny, we have nary a peep out of the entire pirate crew the whole time that Jack is raising a girl on board his ship. It's like Sue puts all the sexism in whole Caribbean inside of her biological father, and as soon as she floats off in the barrel, poof! Gender barriers all gone.

My friend showed me this, and it spawned a terrible inspiration in me. And so the story of how this fic should have gone ( ... )

Poor Mr.Gibbs D:

On another note, why is fanfiction always so dramatic and lacking in basic story structure? Is everyone who writes it really 13?

Unfortunately, a good percentage of badfic authors are well out of their teenage years. Rina Tait the 24-year-old "historical restoratnest" comes to mind, as well as this charming Snape MPreg Suethor, a 33-year-old lady sporked on deleterius.

You know, that's something I never thought about. How DID Jack procure fresh milk for his darling baby Sue? Of course, if she were weaned on rum, that might explain her bizarre and highly oblivious behavior...

"...and a smile that would make even the roughest pirates melt.”

Well, I didn't even need to read past that description. But I did anyway, just for the fun of it.

You know, unfortunately it doesn't matter that it's been awhile since POTC 3 was out. We will continue to be inundated with Sues. I don't know if POTC 4 is going to happen but with or without it the Sues will never stop coming. In fact I cringe every time I hear rumors about Johnny Depp doing another adaptation of anything. You just know there will be a shitload of Sues infiltrating whatever fandom it is. The Johnny Depp Sues are toxic.

Thank God Good Omens never happened. Step away from Neil Gaiman, Suethors.

I worked it out the other day.

Even if no other PotC badfic gets written - assuming that the fandom is 85% Suefic (including canon sue slash), and this community sporks one fic every single day until there are no more Sues to be found...

...It will take us 42 years to mock them all.

The Mulan fandom's looking quite cozy now, isn't it?

I stopped by that category on ffn recently and immediately ran away.

To me the most incomprehensible thing is what Gisele is doing on the Pearl, and why Gibbs is okay with this. Did Jack realize in a puff of logic he needed a woman's help to take care of a baby? But then 1)why not leave the baby with her on dry land?, and 2)why is she still here when the girl doesn't need her anymore, and hates her to boot? Is the pay that good?

Or is this about her regular profession? (Jack: Sex good. Sex rare. Why sex rare? Sex only available on dry land. Why sex not on ship? Whore not on ship. *aloud* Hey Giselle, wanna move in with me? Giselle: Money good. Money available only when pirates come to spend. Pirates not always come to this island. Pirates not always spend on me. Pirates spend on first whore available. Need to be first whore available. Ergo, need to be closer to source of money. Aha! Instead of renting room at inn, will rent cabin on board ship from some sucker! *aloud* Sure, Jack! Gibbs: Bzuh? But what about our superstitious sailory superstitions?)
