Catherine had thought about joining the police force in the village until the village had decided for her and made her manager of the music store. When she saw the notice for the Village Guard she'd been intrigued and decided to come and check it out.

She looked around for whoever might be in charge and familiar faces in the crowd.

"Lady Catherine," said one knight errant as he approached in a clatter of rusted armor.

For this meeting, Don Quixote had donned all of his battlements. Of course, no warrior would question his qualifications, but he left little to chance, hand on the hilt of his sword.

Catherine's smile turned warm and soft when she saw her friend. "I should have known that you were part of the guard. Have you been a part of it for long?"

"I was only made aware of the regiment by the signs about the village," Don Quixote said. "A fair number of noble folk!" Present company included!

It had to be confessed-it felt good to be with the force again as a group. Margaret may've taken well to parenthood, and Sonya wouldn't trade her kids for anything, but this was what she was trained to do from the start of her career and she was starting to realize that no time in the village would make that go away.

She may've not really been into the whole 'meet-and-greet' thing, but what the hell, they were in need of more people. This gave everyone a chance to get to hear peoples' experience-if nothing else it meant the possibility of some interesting stories.

Just for the sake of appearances, she'd arrived in her black, fatigues, remaining on the outskirts of the crowd to observe who could be potential members.

Michael had seen the notice about the town guard. He wasn't a fighter (at least not yet), but he did believe in protecting people. At least something good could come out of being turned (twice).

Arriving at the hotel ballroom, Michael mingled, wondering how the guard was set up and what role he might play in it.

[ooc: I'm assuming that they can 'sense' the wolf in each other. :) ]

Ruby's nerve endings began to jump and there was something in the air around her. It was the same when she'd found her mother and the other wolves, the pack. Her eyes slid around the room until they kept going back to a man. Her curiosity got the better of her so she made her way over.

"Hi."

Michael's social skills were, to be generous, a bit rusty. The woman was beautiful, sure, but there was something else about her. He was reminded of the subtle connection he'd felt with Eve, though it wasn't quite the same.

"Hello." Michael said, smiling. "Are you one of the guard?"

[ooc: Her sense of him might be a bit weird, since he's a vampire as well. Michael is a enough of a noob that he hasn't sorted his own senses out very well yet.]

Ruby shook her head, "not yet but I hope to be or at least offer what I can do to help." She held out her hand. "I'm Ruby but almost everyone calls me Red."

Okay..this wasn't entirely what George was expecting. He knew that there were all sorts of types in the military but..hell, there were broads here..another darf..a knight..were those cowboys?

Out of habit, he picked his dress greens that had been in his closet for awhile. Least they would be useful for something.

Strangely enough, seeing all of these oddballs helped feel him more at ease. After all, this was what they trained for back home (he thinks), and even he had to admit that being totally idle in the village wasn't doing well for him.

Yuri saw the green uniform and had a twinge. There was an old-fashioned look about it, and not just old-fashioned for her. Her own uniform was a lot smaller, and not even vaguely dressy.* Well, Tristan had liked it.

"Hi," she said, coming over. "I'm Yuri. Um... I was just wondering what time period you came from back home."

*Shorts and halter, boots, glove on her left hand (she's a lefty). Yellow with red trim. She's also got a wrist band on her right wrist and an arm band on her left arm.

The guys often called him 'bug-eyed' back home, but looking at the blue-haired broad in that get-up...his eyes just bugged out of his head.

"Yuri..." He wasn't sure which to look at first: body, her hair..damn..her features made her like a Jap, but hell if he recalled the Japs looking like that.

"I'm George." Thank god for his quick skills. "It's 1945 where I'm from-you some sort of futurist broad?"

He overheard some of the broads here talking military. Okay, he always figured that if his sisters were sent to war they'd guilt and scold the nazis into surrendering..but he couldn't think just what sort of uniform that would be for. It sure as hell didn't look like a nurses' uniform and it sure as hell wasn't in anyway camouflage.

"Broad?" Yuri wrinkled her nose. "Makes it sound like I have a really big butt."

She did not, thank you.

"Good to meet you, George. It's 2145 back home. Kei and I were flying back to Pacifica after a mission and got pulled in. Our ship is on top of the paintball arena." She shrugged. "We were kind of surprised to find out we were in the past."

Yuri knew from 1945.

"He left a long time ago, but I dated a guy here who was in World War II. It was 1945 for him, too." Tristan was taller and from England, which this George obviously wasn't.

Jace saw the signs, of course, had heard about the Village Guard.

He wasn't sure, however, whether he was that much of a team player.

So there was a stunningly good looking blond skirting the edges of the gathering, swords strapped to his back, golden eyes watching.

Buffy had noticed the swords of course, not very many carried them with confidence and he had two of them. She walked over to him, after first dumping her empty coffee cup in the trash.

"Hey. You here to join up?"

"Maybe."

Jace turned to look at her more fully.

Pretty. Strong. Not the usual mundane. The blades were seraph blades, but he didn't volunteer that information. He gave her a crooked smile, one that never failed to draw moony sighs from teenage girls (and the occasional boy). "Are you a Guard-ian?"

She assumed he meant with the Guard and nodded. "Yep, I'm part of his group." Buffy pointed over to where Dean stood. "I'd say that we're the hunters of the group but really only Dean and I are." She held out her hand, "I'm Buffy."
