J.L. finds Kyla in the park training the dogs. He's not surprised at what she's doing, but she was late to meet him and that's what's weird. Walking up to her, he slips his hands in his pockets and watches Ginger and Ripper in the distance. "You're late for our sparring session."
Kyla heard him approach, but had sort of been hoping J.L. wasn't in the mood to talk. When he spoke, she felt a pit grow him her stomach. She had missed three of their sparring matches and hadn't given him a reason each time. She hadn't quite let anyone know she was pregnant yet, but she wasn't sure how to tell J.L. or how he'd react. The idea scared her. "I know. I think I might stop training for a while." 'A while' was probably an understatement, not that she enjoyed that fact.
He looks at her, quiet. Finally he decides to ask. "Why?"
"No reason. I just don't want to anymore." She hated lying to people, but especially one of her own. Some great leader she was going to be. There was no way J.L. was going to trust her when he found out.
"You look frustrated." J.L. doesn't normally talk about this sort of thing, but Kyla's someone he needs to keep an eye on. Needs to keep safe.
Kyla tensed at his words. "I'm fine." Not really, but she didn't want to talk about it. Not yet, at least. She whistled for Ginger and Ripper to return. "I've got to get going. I'll see you around."
Kyla didn't give J.L. a chance to stop her. She turned and headed for the hotel. She missed training. It was frustrating. And she hated lying about why she had to stop. This was all she could think about as she exited the elevator and headed into her room. She was so pre-occupied with her frustrated thoughts that she didn't realized she closed the door on Ginger, her red Husky, and Ripper, her 120lbs Bullmastif.
Kyla didn't stop until she reached the punching bag that Leoben had given to her as a gift and began punching, raw knuckled. Her dogs stood in front of her door in the hallway looking forlornly.
(ooc: Still slow until Sunday. Post co-written with J.L's mun. The door is open, but the dogs don't have opposable thumbs to open it.)
