Kyla hadn't admitted to anyone that she had been the one to take the shot at Six, though she suspected that if they narrowed down the caliber of weapon it would be easy to pinpoint it to a small pool of people in the village to which she would be one of them. Kyla also hadn't left the clinic since bringing now Six. Most of the time was spent watching over Leoben, but she would occasionally slip into Laura's room when she was asleep to make sure Laura was okay too.

When she stepped quickly into the room again, she thought Laura would be asleep again, but Kyla discovered that wasn't the case. After an awkward pause, she sends Laura a small smile. Kyla looked a lot more like she did normally in her own world - Lack of sleep had caused dark circles to form under her eyes. She had showered, but only to keep from smelling and her hair had been neglected in order to save time, so it was flat and tied back into a pony tail like she used to wear it all the time back home. Soldier Kyla, Corporal Connor, much older looking than her nineteen

Laura didn't realize exactly how guilty she felt about Kyla, about pushing so hard for this belief that the cylons were alright, until Kyla was standing right in front of her.

"Are you alright?" she asks first, needing to know.

She pressed her lips together before answering and then gave a small nod to Laura. Seeing she was awake, she stepped further into the room.

"I've been through worse." That much was true. "What about you? How are you feeling?"

Through the scope Laura had looked pretty beaten up, but Kyla remembered thinking distinctly that she looked even worse in person. Laura had been through a lot and none of it pretty.

Her face is black and blue, forearms and things Kyla can't see. But Laura just nods a little.

"Been through worse, too," she says before closing her eyes. "Kyla, I'm...I'm sorry."

Kyla's eyes widened a little, surprised and then her brow furrowed, confused. "... For what?" She walked in further and then sat down in the chair close to the bed so that Laura didn't have to strain her neck or anything.

Laura takes a deep, shuddering breath before letting it out slowly.

"Believing so...whole heartedly that things were different. That things were better. And now with half the village in ruin and people dead, I have to disagree with myself."

She took a silent breath in and out as she processed that. She had thought a lot about that since arriving at the clinic. The fact is it really had 'I told you so' by J.L. all over it, even though he hadn't told her that yet straight out.

Kyla looked down at her hands briefly and then back up. "Something I learned a long time ago.. that while there are sometimes exceptions to the rules, that the majority stay the same."

Meaning, she had come to believe Laura's position on Leoben - this specific version - but not all of them. If she had learned who Julie really was, she would have been more on guard.

"I'm just... I'm sorry you that it turned out this way." Sorry, but not actually surprised. Would she tell that to Leoben directly though? Probably not.

"Well. It's been a nice push back to reality. I feel like I should apologize to J.L."

For the first time since she was sick, Laura's not sure of anything, and it's settling like a weight on her chest. She has no idea what her position should be anymore, or what feelings to trust.

J.L. had been right and they both knew it, but she knew that Leoben had no part to play. No, that was a lie. Kyla was pretty sure, but she didn't have 100% proof except for the fact he had almost died saving her.

She watch Laura for a moment. Kyla realized she had never seen Laura unsure of herself before. It was like the first time she caught her father and mother alone and saw the look on her dad's face. He had been so unsure even though moments before he gave a big speech about the success of the mission.

She pressed her lips together. "...I was the one who shot..." The hesitation came from not knowing what to call her. "...Six."

Laura looks at Kyla, blinking slowly, comprehending exactly what she was saying. Closing her eyes for a second, she takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly.

"Thank you, then."

Not that she hadn't thought Sam or Octavian would have saved her somehow.

"I don't know what to say, Kyla."

She shook her head. "You don't need to say anything. I would do it again in a heartbeat." Despite her feelings for Leoben, Kyla hadn't hesitated at all with Six. Kyla was aware of the double standard.

Laura looks at Kyla, trying to think of how she wants to say this.

"I'm sorry that I was so sure. That I tried to convince your friend."

Kyla frowned at that. "I asked you to convince him... I'm to blame for it too."

She looked at Laura, watching her. It was hard to see Laura so unsure. "Is it... that you were so sure of all of them, or just of Leoben?" She understood the history of some other models helping, but still.

"I'm angry and hurt that Leoben kept this from me. That she was here. Even if he wasn't sure of her plans. I realize he was trying to be loyal to his sister, but I think...we should have known."

Her lips pressed together and her eyes showed her emotion - that she agreed - before she even nodded. "Me too. It... I trust him, but not all of his... kind." Kyla was working hard on using the right words, which was difficult. She was stuck on a tightrope because of her feelings for Leoben and her hatred for machines.

"I... don't even know if I'd trust another copy of... his, if i-one showed up." Had she told any of this to Leoben though? No.

Laura sighs softly, because Kyla is speaking Laura's own thoughts exactly.

"His model was not kind to us on New Caprica, and yet...somehow, I'd forgiven him. For the things his model said to me, did to me and to others in their prison cells. That trust hasn't come easily or effortlessly on my part, and now I'm not sure what's...left of that."
