All in all, the holiday ball comes together beautifully. There's a
huge Christmas tree that Laura has nothing to do with - the village has a way of making things appear, and honestly, she's glad she didn't have to decorate it. There is a group of tables on one side of the large ballroom, decorated with deep red and gold and servers waiting around

She entered the ballroom with Ren, dressed in a blue gown, with her ownly jewelry being the sapphire necklace she recieved last christmas. She rarely ever wore jewerly, and considering what Ren told her about Rosalie's usual reactions to people-why not wear it. Her main concern wasn't the necklace, but the straps that did nothing to hide the long, jagged scar along her left shoulder and collar bone, a 'soviener' from her last battle home ( ... )

"Oh my goodness, you look wonderful!"

Sonya also couldn't help but smiling at the compliment. "I know, who'd have thought I'd clean up this well."
"And you look great as well, very much into the holiday spirit." Of course, the reality of not needing to 'duck and cover' may also play a part-hard to keep cheery with such a threat over one's head.

The promise of good alcohol (particularly champagne, gods how she'd missed champagne) and an evening with a handsome man had trumped any anxiety she'd had about playing a lady for the night, though. And never let it be said that Mandy didn't know how to play a part when she put her mind to it. She definitely looked nothing like the party girl of her youth tonight.

He walked over to Mandy with champagne in his hands and extended a glass to her. "You're looking quite stunning." He offered her one of his charming smiles along with the compliment.

"Well, I was going to come naked, but I was told they frown upon that sort of thing."
He held up the glass and then took a sip from his.

This time, she was here on her own invitation, with a man she'd was with as a friend and because she liked his company, not from any other arrangement.
The gown she'd bought from Anne was nothing like the gowns she'd worn at home, but still elegant in it's own way, and the way it shimmered and flowed made her want to dance almost as much as when she heard the band playing.

"Ah, 'tis a lovely sight, isn't it? And ye look beautiful."
Reply
"Yes, it is lovely. Not as grand as the English court but still lovely and.." She tried to think of the right word. "freer, with no one to watch out for." The court, in Anna's opinion, had never really been nothing more than a sort of gilded death trap.
"And I must say, you look rather handsome yourself. Your Sioben must've been a lucky woman." She couldn't help but tease, while reminding him of her agreement to remain 'as friends'.

He'd picked Faye up a few minutes prior and it was some small miracle that they'd let each other slip out into the hall, going arm in arm, rather than bolting into her apartment to spend time alone together. He wanted to go to the ball and dance with her; wanted to see certain...other people at the event too.
Pressing closely to her when they walked into the ballroom together, he said lowly, "You do know that you're going to pale all other beauty tonight, don't you?" He was in a classic black tuxedo, complete with a white dress shirt and black necktie, and he hoped he'd done enough to compliment Faye's gorgeous dress and natural beauty.
[OOC: Catch him sometime after their initial entry, when he's somewhere by himself.]

She'd tucked her arm close to Klaus, more proud than she could say to be walking in on his arm. She could feel the skirt of her red, ruffled dress trailing out behind her, different than her usual style, but still sexy in it's own way.
"Thank you," she murmured, smiling at him. "I certainly have the most dashing escort here."

He smiled back at her, reaching his other hand over to gently squeeze hers. "Then we'll steal the night together," he teased, though had no doubts at all they looked amazing together.
"Do you know if any of your friends are planning to come tonight?" His eyes swept the room, looking for the very select few people he'd even be interested in seeing.

"Of that I have no doubt," she said with a little smirk.
She watched him look around the room, and a vague flicker of amusement lit her eyes. "Most of my friends are going to the other party, I think. As for yours...I did run into Elijah carrying a tux back to the hotel the other day, so I suspect he, at least, will be here."

Walking in with John, she smiles to see the tree and takes his arm. "The is beautiful."

"It's quite impressive. Sometimes size does matter, huh?"
