I'm a big believer in not counting chickens before they hatch.  Too many variables.  And so, as Obama takes the reins, I watch.  What I AM sure of is that he is no Messiah, Saviour, or Prophet.  He's man with some ideas that may or may not work.   He will not save the entire country from poverty, but his time in office might see some economic ( Read more... )

I think of it less as over-hyping and more of getting the bar back up to where it should be.

My better half and I have had a few recent discussions and I stress few because I still prefer to have my head in the sand but when I got wind of Woodstock 2009 (times a few millions) happening down there in Washington, I just had to roll my eyes because it is just so typical of the mass euphoria hysteria that's been running rampant for month after very long month and which more than a few people are sick of.

I am sure that he's a good man, I am sure he has good intentions, I am sure he is as capable as his successors, but I am sure that he is just a man. He has fantastic speech writers, he has supreme image makers, he has amazing consultants and every last expression, pause and gesture is calculated for maximum win ( ... )

He gave a good speech, but actions will speak much louder in the end. I hope that he will not make the same mistakes as his previous successors and get bogged down in those instead of focusing on doing the work he was elected to perform. Whatever happens, Obama will have his work cut out for him, as much of our ills will not be resolved within four years, as most people hope. I am cautiously optimistic, though.
