Shawn returns the hug eagerly, beaming.

"This? This is... it's..."

Oh.

It's..." His grin turns in something embarassed. "It's, uh, it's my anniversary."

Wow, this is really harder than he thought. Not that they have any obligations with each other - after all this totally no bounds is the thing that makes them get along so well... but still, Shawn doesn't want her to think he's that kind of guy. He doesn't think she will, at least he hopes she won't because he's pretty sure she's smart and witty and might even see through all this. Not that he can tell her what's going on, though.

"But, I mean, we're cool, right? This isn't a problem for you? Because if it is I must assure you that-" Jeez, no, he can't do that.

"Look," he starts again in a low voice, quickly looking to the left and right, a slightly troubled expression on his face. "I know this must be very much like an Alias episode. "Another Anna?" Ray looks impressed. "Gee, what are the odds?" With another sip of his punch - why the hell did he have to take Shawn's drink?! - his smile widens but he's careful not to return her favour and give her a full-blown once over too. He's learned enough to know women don't take too kindly to that. Still, a little peeking wouldn't hurt anyone. "Seems all the pretty ladies are called that."

Anna turned around to face him, chuckling slightly, before motioning to her dust covered jeans and t-shirt -- they were well worn, and no where near fancy. "Do I look like I care about Armani?"

"Because like I said, I'm a man of fine taste." He gestures to his suit and then to her. "In everything," he grins.

When he realises Shawn's hand is still on him, his smile turns upside down and he shrugs off the psychic, before picking off invisible lint from the spot Shawn had touched. Seriously, a guy should tell another guy when he's going to touch him like that in public. People might get ideas.

She wanted to laugh. She really did. "While I appreciate the compliment, I prefer a guy who's less worried about what things look like, and more interested in the substance behind things."

"Hey, I can do substance," Ray assures her with a confident nod, "I'm a real substancy kind of guy. Some people even call me Ray McSubstance," he waves a hand, "but that was back in high school." Great. Way to make himself sound like a drug dealer.

Ray ducks his head and throws a tight smile down at the floor. "Well, it definitely wasn't last year," he replies, looking back up. Unlike Anna, who looks like she's young enough to still be a student.
