Shawn has taken care of absolutely everything. There are flowers and drinks and different types of music. There is food and loads of pineapples. Shawn returns the hug eagerly, beaming.

"This? This is... it's..."

Oh.

It's..." His grin turns in something embarassed. "It's, uh, it's my anniversary."

Wow, this is really harder than he thought. Not that they have any obligations with each other - after all this totally no bounds is the thing that makes them get along so well... but still, Shawn doesn't want her to think he's that kind of guy. He doesn't think she will, at least he hopes she won't because he's pretty sure she's smart and witty and might even see through all this. Not that he can tell her what's going on, though.

"But, I mean, we're cool, right? This isn't a problem for you? Because if it is I must assure you that-" Jeez, no, he can't do that.

"Look," he starts again in a low voice, quickly looking to the left and right, a slightly troubled expression on his face. "I know this must be very much like an Alias episode. Not that I watch Alias. But I could imagine the episodes are a little like this. The point is..." he tries getting back to the subject, ( ... )

"I will," she said with a wider, hopefully less awkward smile, while silently kicking herself for even bringing it up.

"Yeah, that's..." Shawn clapped his hands and tried to break the tension like an expensive ming vase, cutting in to allow Gus his retreat. "That's a given. I mean, this is gonna be a great party!"

Right. He glued the smile to his face, looking at Anna, his eyes screaming IswearIwillexplain in seven different languages.

Though that were far more languages than Shawn could speak.

"Absolutely," she said with a grin, before sighing heavily. "Sorry -- I tend to make things really awkward when they're just sprung on me like that. I swear, I usually have a better poker face than that."

Shawn chuckles a little. "It's alright. I'm actually glad you didn't find the invitation with the word married underlined with that big fat pen... Hey, you want another drink?"

"Please," she nodded, before smirking slightly. "And I think I would have preferred to have actually gotten an invitation. That way we could have sorted this all out before hand."

"I still got some in my drawer, you can take one home," he grins, walking over to the drinks and refilling her glass. "There you go."

"Thanks," she laughed, taking the glass from him. She looked around for a minute with a sigh, before turning back to him. "This is a pretty nice office. Is this where you do all your psychic detecting?"

"From time to time, yeah." He reached for another glass and poured himself a drink as well. "Also, at the local police station, random crime scenes or under the shower."

"The shower?" she said with a smirk. "The shower head good for tuning in the spirits?"

"That, and singing along to the radio. They like that. It tames them, as long as you hit the right frequency." Shawn grins and takes a sip of his drink. "How about you? What have you been up to lately?"

"Not much, actually," she said with a shrug. "Thanksgiving, the holidays, all that good stuff -- oh! My bus broke down in Arizona on the way here -- that wasn't any fun."

"No way!" Shawn stared at her. "You should have given me a call! At least after you entered California. We had a deal, right?" He tilted his head aside, curiously. "So how did you get here? Hiked?"

"Actually, once the bus was fixed, we went right through to Santa Barbara," she said with a smile. "Turned out it was a just an overheating thing, and they were pretty nice about it -- gave use a voucher for the trip and everything. I walked from here to the bus station, though -- it's been a while since I've gotten a chance to walk on the beach."

"She fell from the sky," Ray butts in, answering Shawn's question himself and giving the pretty lady a charming smile right before plucking the psychic's drink out of his hand. "That for me? Thanks." He lifts it to his lips. Ewww, pineapple punch, and hides the look of disgust behind another pleased grin. "Ray Vechhio. I don't believe I've had the pleasure."

Anna arched an eyebrow at the line, and crossed her arms in front of her chest as she looked him over. "No, we haven't. Anna Scherlacker."
