Oscar Red Carpet

Feb 28, 2005 20:52

So, I watched some of E!'s repeat coverage of the Red Carpet tonight. The only proper red carpet coverage in the UK. With Star Jones and Kathy Gifford. I suffer for my shallowness art. I miss the Rivers. They were so much bitchy fun. Whatever happened with them?

Oooh, I want Drew Barrymore's dress. And Beyonce's, actually (I have a thing for velvety dresses). Yes, they're both black. Shhh.

I hadn't seen Drew's dress. Gorgeous, particularly on her!

I don't get how so many beautiful women, with so many professional stylists, can choose such horrible and unflattering dresses. I could do better! Hire me and Eve, Hollywood!

What I don't get is how Scarlett Johannson always has crap hair. Seriously. What is wrong with that woman?

I rather liked Cate's belt - I think without it the dress could have been in danger of being plain. It's an unexpected Oscars look, but I quite like it for that. Whilst discussing things about which we disagree ... Orlando's little Victoriana thing was nicely understated, I thought, and I liked the slight necktie thing. If you're going to go for that style, you have to be careful or you wind up having, well, Johnny Depp's outfit. :P

So ... who was Best Dressed in your humble opinion?

Most of it is fine, but someone really needs to ask for their violin neck-cushion back from around Mr Depp's throat.

Clearly the myriad patterns of your sartorial collection have created a blinding kaleidoscope effect in your brain.
