So, I watched some of E!'s repeat coverage of the Red Carpet tonight. The only proper red carpet coverage in the UK. With Star Jones and Kathy Gifford. I suffer for my shallowness art. I miss the Rivers. They were so much bitchy fun. Whatever happened with them?
Charlize Theron. At least she made a dramatic statement. After all, it's the Oscars, and it deserves dramatic dresses. Yeah. Shame about
up-close. Beyonce. Whatever. Black gets so dull. But at least it's fitted nice.
Oh, Renee. Why, Renee? Why?
The material doesn't even flow that well, either. Penelope Cruz. I'm too distracted by the bad make-up (dark eyes and pale lipstick not working for her) and the
big wonky bow at the back to really comment on the dress.
Ziyi Zhang. On first sight, I think 'cute'! But as I look at it more and more, it loses its appeal. That necklace literally rocks, though.
Kate Winslet. The pic doesn't do the beutiful colour of the dress justice, but she looks so pretty and elegant.
This is how to dress for an awards show, Renee Nicole people. The bag was ultra cute on the TV.
I am undecided about this dress on
Catalina Moreno. But at least it fits her body shape right, unlike some I could mention Gwyneth.
Natalie Portman. This dress nearly worked but then it fell down at the first, second, third last hurdle. It works up to the waist and
then just... *sniff* I don't want to talk about it.
Hilary Swank. This looked much worse on camera, a dark swamp of a dress from the front, when it's usually the other way around and the pic is less flattering. I almost like it in the above pic. But, then,
this happens. Hey, at least it's a statement dress. Um.
I do love the cut and style of
Salma Hayek's dress, but then I've always loved that sort of dress. I say thumbs up, if a bit messy with the pattern.
Cate. Cate is of the good, though I'm not sure about the black belt. I know how it's trying to work that dress, but the belt doesn't quite work, especially with the dress falling over it like it's come undone. Love the colour and the jewellery. The make up and hair looked better on the TV. Perhaps I'm too harsh on
the lovely C.
Virginia Madsen. My, those are some earrings. I'm not sure about the dress. think the stripiness would have worked better vertically.
Scarlett Johansson, as usual, goes for a certainly something haircut. Sometimes I like it and go "ooh", other times, I'm running away screaming in my mind. The dress, however,
doesn't fit.
Julie Delpy. Nuh-uh.
Maggie Gyllenhall. The dress, it all went wrong around the waist. Shame.
Why the shaven hair,
Jake? I don't care if it's for a film, it's not a look for you.
Gwyn. Gwyn. Gwyn. What went wrong? What went wrong with everything? Didn't you used to dress nice or did I imagine that? Still, accessories are nice. Also, I thought Stella was your friend, yet she dressed you in that. Tsk.
Halle Berry. A
big improvement on the Globes, I think it was? I remember a traumatic dress of some sort. Lovely hair, too. And hee! to actually going to the Razzies and picking up your award. That was some move. I wish I could've seen it.
Oh,
Laura Linney, why are you so attached to having so much black around your eyes? It doesn't suit you! Oh dear god to
the dress, too.
Sandra Oh. The dress is a great red colour, but it does nothing for her.... negative, in fact. Could be a bad picture, though. Yay for Swarovski shinysparkly bag and necklace.
Emmy Rossum continues her good dress sense from the Globes with this richly coloured number. Love that colour. The jewellery goes perfect, too.
Unlike with others,
Drew's pale skin make a black dress much more stand-out and worthy of oscardom, IMO.
Ah, Johnny. I would expect nothing, uh, less of you. *ruffles hair*
Orlando. I'm not sure. It needs more of a prominent bow-tie/tie, I think. Distracting without.
Kirsten Dunst. The bracelet? No. Otherwise,
yes. Pretty black lace.
Melanie Griffith. *blinks* Versace actually made that? Like, on purpose?
Helen Mirren. Uh. Hmm. Yes. Indeed. Well.
Robin Williams. No comment.
Yo Yo Ma rules!
And on that West Wing reference, I'll finish. *collapses from fashion*
