I agree with you on all those characters (but I can't say anything about Tohru, since I haven't seen Fruits Basket.) I always thought that Tot was too cute to be hated. As for Ayeka, she may be some snobby princess, but she's a likable snobby princess. Besides, Ryoko has just as many flaws as she does. And I think you're right about Asuka. She is kinda unlikable in the beginning of the series, but when she starts kicking ass in the later parts and especially in End of Evangelion, she's definitely more likable. (I actually like both Rei and Asuka.)

Tohru Honda from Fruits Basket - Actually, I haven't seen too much hating on her. But I'm sure it exists, simply b/c so many male characters seem to focus on her.

Well, even with all the FB yaoi discussion on yaoi and yaoicest, I've yet to see even one bit of Tohru-bashing...admittedly, I haven't delved into the FB fandom, but Tohru actually seems safe so far...I hope she really is!

I think you're right. Most fans that I've noticed who like different FB yaoi pairings still seem to like Tohru too.

See, I think it should be possible to ship Tenchi/Ryoko and still like Ayeka. I think I lean more towards T/R (I blame the person who intro'd me to the series, as she is a huge T/R shipper), but Ayeka doesn't bother me.
