Hello everyone! My name is Riku and I'm a longtime lurker and short-time member of this community. I'm glad that there's a community like this; character bashing is something that irritates me to no end.

I never had brothers, sadly, but I can see what you mean. Tidus is just...a really good character.

Tidus irritated me a lot when I first started FFX (when he's sitting in the water going "I'm hungry!" I wanted to bitchslap him), but he grew on me, and I liked him quite a bit by the end.

As for Hikaru...love her to death. I don't want her bashed! *stands in front of Hikaru protectively*

He was very whiny in the beginning, yeah. (That personally just amused me, but then again, I have an odd sense of humor.) But it was really understandable, I think. I mean, come on--he's just seen his hometown destroyed in the middle of a blitzball game and thrust into a totally new and rather desolate place. It was a lot more interesting to see him react in such a human way, I thought. And it only got better from there. n_n

...and I agree! Hikaru is awesome! *offers to aid in the protection*

The main complain about Hikaru is the way she's portrayed in the second part of the animated MKR series. The thing with Nova was never developed well, so at times she'd come more as a sorta CLAMP-ish Shinji Ikari than the cheerful, energic girl we were used to.

I don't hate her, and tend to think that she's more a victim of bad writing than anything else. Then aain, i never liked MKR itself a lot. -_-

...I had never thought about that before, although now that you mention it, it makes a lot of sense. o_o The second anime was kinda "ehhh" for me anyway, considering they took out Mokona's role and screwed up the ending for Eagle. (Gotta love the episode where Hikaru was aboard Eagle's ship though. I heart Autozam.)

Your icon amuses me... XD Although I always thought that the Ambiguously Gay Trio consisted of Tohma, Quatre, and Omi.... >.> Wait, that's my own opinion, NEVER MIND! ^-^

And hating someone for their voice is *wrong*. I know a lot of people hate Ayeka and Ryoko's dub voices, but they don't hate the *character* for it---they hate Pioneer. Which is far more mature than these rabid fangroups...

Yeeeah. Bad/annoying voices can add to an already annoying character (Naga irritates me to no end, but she's still pretty damn funny and a good foil to Lina), but they shouldn't be the reason for hatred, I think. 'Specially not dubbed voices. Egads.

Rikku (FFX-2 Version)--This has been a lot less of a problem as the release date of FFX-2 approaches, but...many people bashed her at first for her supremely...uh, fanservicey outfit. And while she really does have a fanservicey outfit (I was taken aback the first time I saw it), I don't see why that should be good grounds for character-bashing.

BECAUSE OMG IT IS SKIMPY IT MEANS SHE IS A SLUT!!!11pancakes NEVER MIND THAT EVERY TIME A MALE CHARACTER APPEARS IN ANY KIND OF SKIMPY OUTFIT THE FANGRRLS MULTIPLE ORGASM!!1 NEVER MIND CELES APPEARED TO WEAR NOTHING BUT A GREEN BIKINI, BLESS HER HEART!!!1

God, I despise fangirls. Go AWAY, you guys. Yuna's outfit is much goddamn easier to fight in than the last time round, and Rikku can wear what she LIKES. I thought this was the age of feminism, where what you wore didn't have anything to do with how 'easy' you were.

....you know, I had never really thought about it that way. 'Tis an extremely good point. Do you mind if I friend you? And I agree that the outfit kicks major arse--I'm so gonna try and get the action figure of her with that outfit. FFX-2 has some awesome (if sometimes unusual) costume designs overall.
