Character bashing is in almost every fandom; sometimes there's a single character, sometimes there are several. But, in almost every fandom out there a character will be hated by a majority. Today, I am going to defend 50 characters from 14 different fandoms. Yes, I found 50 hated characters in only 14 fandoms. Well, let the defense begin.

I usually lurk, but you drew me out of hiding. Why? Because you're awesome. At first, it was just the number of opinions I agree with. Junpei? Totally made Digimon Frontier, and yes, I felt sorry for him too. Tracey and May? Don't deserve the entire replacement crap at all, considering they're, as you've definitely put it, their own characters. Ron? Agreed. I'd be pissed often if I were him too. Asuka? Agreed there too. And to add, no, she's not just the token female to pair Shinji or Kaworu with. (Looking at FFNet here... which is kinda funny because you're right in pointing out that a lot of people think she's just a bitch for no reason.) Yuka? I still don't get how people could bash someone that cute. She is a sweet person, and really, it's not like anime's never gone down that route anyway. [motions to Fruits Basket]

And, well, you get the idea.

But the one thing that I think wins the most out of all your opinions is this quote:

...You have my utmost respect. I only dislike about....two? Maybe three? of those characters, and seven are my favorite character from the series. And the rest I adore. I always seem to love the bashed characters, lol. Anywho, these rants seem well thought out, albeit short, and it puts me in a good mood. ^_^

JP is made of fucking WIN and more people need to realize this. Even when he and the other "supporting" kids were made useless in combat, he was still doing stuff. Like he was the one who figured out that you-know-who and you-know-who-else were the same person in the movie.

Dammit. I cosplay JP and *NO ONE KNOWS* who I am! I carried around a Patamon doll that I got at a con last year and everyone was like "You're TK? But you don't *look* like TK..." DAMMIT THERE'S MORE THAN ONE PATAMON.

The problem with Jeri is that her BIG moment coincided, well, with one part of the Tamers storyline that wasn't exacly the best. The fight against the D-Ripper was, IMHO, really BORING and unbereably LONG, since the writers wanted it to be "deep and meaningful" but it looks like they forgot that "slow" and "unnecessarily dragged out" =/= "serious". =P

But is that Juri's fault? No. She's got reasons to be the way she was, and DAMN good ones as well. And I betcha that the ones who bash her the hardest, were they in her shoes, wouldn't have half the strength she displayed when she was given the chance. =)
