The night is young, the lights are low, and the sound system actually appears to be working. Gwen's dressed in what, for her, is nice: black dance pants, ballet flats, and a scoop-neck t-shirt.

"Hey, guys," she says with a smile. "How're you doing?"

The look he's giving her is -- well, "appraising" is probably an understatment.

"It would seem so," she says. Looking kind of jittery. "Nothing's blown up yet, which is a plus. Um ..."

She glances around and takes a chair somewhere obvious. Not a slouch, but a lounge.
She's grinning.

It was only a matter of time.
"Look what the cat dragged in," says a voice behind her. The comment is accompanied by a stream of smoke over her shoulder.

"I'd say, 'look what the dog dug up,' but wait."
She turns, and tilts her head, thoughtfully.
"The dog - that's you... isn't it?"

He spreads a hand against his chest.
"I'm hurt, Claire. Really. Why don't you cut to the chase and call me a son of a bitch, huh?"

She walks in and pretends not to feel lost.
Brightens. Is that Les?
Oh, but he's talking to somebody.

After a minute, he shrugs, and kneels down to unpadlock the case.
