You could give them androgynous or "drag queen" names and joke about calling them "she". Then again, I'm a Rocky/Hedwig fanatic with a weird sense of humor.

I have also read up on diabetes in hamsters. I do not remember seeing any thing like they need a special diet or something, but if I were you I would try to take "him" (lol) to the vet. The vet might give him some medicine that could make him get/feel better.

By the way, they are so0o0o0o cute! I think that you should name the lighter colored one max and the darker one peanut. (or the other way around, it doesn't matter)

awwe...you just made me think of a cute idea. the dark one could be peanut and the light one could be butter. peanut butter!! lol. and even if they are girls they can keep the names. :)

heh, when i mention my hammy, i usually say "the hamster". i never actually use his name, which is Bacon Bit.

he's a dwarf and i had planned on getting a second one, so i was going to name one Bacon (because hamster --> hammy --> ham --> pork --> bacon) and the other Eggs, but with me going back and forth from school, i figured it'd just be easier to transport one hamster than it is to take two.

i like the Peanut Butter idea up there too ^.

I had two mice once and named them Courtney (after Courtney Love because she was a spaz and had crazy fur) and Gwen (after Gwen Stefani because she was "blond" and laid back).

As for boy hamsters..I don't know..
