We both woke up before noon today, amazingly enough. Trowa went to Chinatown to join earthdragon, who is taking a job in Seattle, for a farewell dim sum run; whereas I went with jbsegal to Mary's to join a whole bunch of folks for lunch with charleshaynes and his sweetie, who are here on a whirlwind tour of Boston. They've recently returned from a year in Bangalore and are ( Read more... )

Lauren and I had an exquisite meal at CSB a few years ago, our first fancy dinner together. (In fact, we were discussing the amazing chocolate dessert earlier this very evening.) The current menu is so far down the "nasty stuff" branch of French cuisine that I've not gone back and I'm quite surprised you'd want to go there.

Yeah, CSB is definitely into the nasty-bits cuisine, but they are also very good about accommodating vegetarian diners. The first time I booked dinner there through OpenTable.com and included a note about dietary needs, they actually called me to ask what I could and couldn't eat. So yeah, Trowa can eat the weird stuff if he likes, but I am confident that I will have something tasty and non-nasty. :)

Charles wanted dun dun noodles and suan la chow show at Mary's, plus ice cream at Tosci's and Herrell's.

Well, my word, who wouldn't?! (Assuming one were willing to eat all the ingredients, you've just described the food of the gods!)

I gather Gus got bailed out on the back taxes then?

also, happy anniversary! I can't believe it's *only* been a year.

Totally with you on the ice cream part of that, anyway. :) And yeah, there was a "save Tosci's" grassroots thing that popped up, and they collected something like $30K in donations to help with the taxes, so you can still buy tasty, tasty ice cream.

Thank you for anniversary wishes! :)

How does Eritrean cuisine differ from Ethiopian? I used to enjoy Ethiopian food (especially on trips to Washington, DC), but now that I'm on a low sodium diet I find it too salty.

Happy anniversary!

So far I have found the main difference to be that the Eritrean food is more sour, though I suppose that could be just the food at this particular place. Either way, I've eaten at Asmara a couple of times and just never really liked it.

Thank you for anniversary wishes! :)
