We both woke up before noon today, amazingly enough. Trowa went to Chinatown to join
earthdragon, who is taking a job in Seattle, for a farewell dim sum run; whereas I went with
jbsegal to Mary's to join a whole bunch of folks for lunch with
charleshaynes and his sweetie, who are here on a whirlwind tour of Boston. They've recently returned from a year in Bangalore and are biding time in NYC while waiting for the paperwork that will allow them to move to Sydney in something like a month or two. The last time Trowa and I saw him was when we went to Lake Tahoe about two years ago.
Charles wanted dun dun noodles and suan la chow show at Mary's, plus ice cream at Tosci's and Herrell's. Trowa joined in for the ice cream portion of the program. I very much enjoyed a scoop of Tosci's butter chip, butter ice cream with soft chocolate chips. Mmmm. And at Herrell's we had to sit in the fish vault, naturally. :) It was just really nice to see Charles and meet his sweetie. I don't know if we'll get the opportunity to visit them in Sydney, though I would dearly love to.
Then tonight we joined
noire, her J, and
roaming for tasty Ethiopian dinner at Fasika, in east Somerville. I'd been hearing good things about Fasika for a while now, and I'm happy to say that the praise was deserved. I've always liked Addis Red Sea in the South End, but their recent outpost over by Porter Square wasn't nearly as good as I'd hoped it would be, and I don't really care for the Eritrean-style cuisine at Asmara in Central Square, so the yumminess at Fasika makes for extra happiness. The fact that it shares space with a townie bar is a bit odd, though. While in the bathroom, which is on the bar side, I was treated to the dubious song stylings of some drunken, middle-aged dude singing along loudly and off-key to "Staying Alive"...fortunately, we couldn't hear that so much on the restaurant side.
Tomorrow I hope to spend some time with
ariesd and
taura_g while Trowa does theatre stuff, and then later that night Trowa and I will have a schmancy pre-anniversary dinner at the
Craigie Street Bistrot. Mmmmm.
Speaking of our anniversary...holy crap, our first wedding anniversary is on Tuesday! *squee*
