We got out of the house on Sunday. For all that it was motivated by needing to visit the Mt. Auburn walk-in clinic, we did stay out for a while to get a few things from the store, have dinner at Pizzeria Uno, and see

Ask the other folks who have had the same thing done how long they spent in the hospital. It'd be good to compare. Also: hospital policy, or insurance policy?
I never get any sleep in the hospital either, which is why I opted to stay only one night when I was "owed" 2 last September.
I have got to get to Ego. Maybe this weekend.

I don't know if it's hospital or insurance policy. Maybe they just figure that I don't need to stay overnight for a pre-emptive procedure?

I seem to remember E & J making sure I took my pain meds as I was rather out of it and lost track of time a lot so sometimes I thought it had been hours and it had, and sometimes it hadn't. So have someone else meter the meds. :) It helped that they prodded me regularly to eat something small. I remember lots of sandwiches and soup.
Overall, you're just going to be much more tired than you think you are. Mind you, I also had an infection prior to my surgery and had to have the stones removed so my body was a bit beaten up by the time it came to actually getting the gall bladder removed.
Mt. Auburn did well by me. May your surgery be completely and utterly textbook such that there will be nothing remarkable about it whatsoever in the end. :)
