Cocoon [1/?]
Kyuhyun/girl!Sungmin, Heechul; PG-13 (will change); 1345 words; chaptered
Sungmin knew her best friend had a younger brother, she just didn't know anything about him.
a/n: This first part is sort of like a prologue, I guess. The story might seem sort of crack-y in the beginning and maybe the relationship development will seem unbelievable, but I hope I can make it enjoyable and realistic :/ if not, you are entitled to complain. PS. I apologize again for character stereotypes; they are rampant in this.

part 01 | part 02 | part 03 | part 04 | part 05 | part 06 | part 07

Kyuhyun had sworn he would never get a girlfriend, mostly because his sister was Heechul and if your sister was Heechul, you would feel exactly the same way. Despite this, it's hard to say whether he would ever have developed a desire to date. He spent more time gaming than was healthy for a human being, often times forgetting to eat, use the bathroom, and shower. If it was the summer holidays he would rarely leave his room except to crawl out of bed, clutching his stomach in agony when the hunger pains finally overwhelmed him, or his mother came in to tell him that his room smelled horrible and for that matter, so did he; 'when was the last time you bathed?!'

Even if Kyuhyun wanted to date, there probably wasn't a girl in the world who could look past his game obsession and poor hygiene. Kyuhyun wasn't concerned about this, however, because he was too busy gaming.

Shutting himself in his room was a good attempt at being anti-social but it seemed that nothing stopped Heechul from bugging him about one thing or another time and again. She never knocked, just barged into the room, and Kyuhyun was lucky he was always too exhausted from gaming to have any desire. If his older sister caught him jerking off he would be mortified and she would probably go telling everyone. Kyuhyun had become pretty good at carrying on Heechul-conversations whilst keeping his characters alive in his games. It wasn't too hard, really; he just had to nod and 'mmhmm, yes' now and then, and if Heechul got especially pissy, then he cursed at her and she would throw something at him, usually a lipstick or bangle or other stupid girl thing, and stomp out of the room, leaving Kyuhyun in peace.

When she showed up in his room for the first time that day it was to complain about Kyuhyun's inability to socialize.

"Can't you make a friend? Just one? I mean, if you stopped playing games for two seconds and learned to function like a real human being, I'm sure someone out there wouldn't mind hanging out with you for an afternoon," she rambled, hands on her hips as she glared at Kyuhyun, whose eyes were darting back and forth, focused on his laptop screen while he just nodded and 'mmhmm'd.

"Aish, you're not even listening to me, you brat! Seriously, get a life! How am I supposed to bring boys home when you're here all the time?" She shrieked, and Kyuhyun was glad their mother was out of town, or else he'd have to listen to her freaking out about her baby daughter (who was twenty years old and of suitable age to be doing such things, in Kyuhyun's opinion, not that he gave it much thought) having boyfriends and other things that women talked about, like chocolate and bad dramas and whatever else. Kyuhyun wasn't interested.

"What do I care?" Kyuhyun growled, jabbing mercilessly at the 's' key. Heechul's kohl-lined eyes narrowed and her glossy lips pursed, manicured nails digging into her own hipbones.

"You could at least try to get a girlfriend, you know. You're not completely hideous, I guess. And I mean, for me, the guy has to be totally hot, but there are girls with lower standards, so I'm sure you have some options at least," she explained. "Then you could get out of the damn house once in a while so I could have some privacy."

Kyuhyun ignored her, too engrossed in chopping off his opponent's head with a sword to remember to pretend to be listening, and Heechul grit her teeth before taking a deep breath, calming herself down.

"You know," she began nonchalantly, checking her nails. "I heard if you don't use it, you lose it. Or did they never even drop for you, Kyu?" She asked with a smirk.

"What are you talking about?" Kyuhyun asked with a furrowed brow, only half-listening, too busy then with robbing his deceased opponent's hoard of treasure.

"Ugh! God, you're hopeless, you know! You think being GaemGyu is so fucking cool but you're really just a total geek!" Heechul screamed, throwing something at Kyuhyun's head - mascara, or lipgloss, aren't they the same thing to him? - before stomping out of his room.

"Hey!" He shouted belatedly, still not looking away from the screen. "Come back and shut my door!"

But Heechul didn't and Kyuhyun forgot about it, too busy gaining a level.

Seven hours later (not that Kyuhyun had any concept of time during the summer holidays) Heechul came home from a party with her best friend Sungmin, banging into things and causing a ruckus (not that Kyuhyun could hear; he had his headset on and was still jabbing away furiously at his keyboard). Heechul was only a little bit drunk, maybe, and even though the party was lame she always had fun with Sungmin.

For Heechul, being attractive and popular made life difficult. Simple things like making friends became a chore because everyone just wanted to get to know her because they'd heard of her, and probably never anything accurate. That didn't stop her from chastising Kyuhyun, however. Nevertheless, she was lucky to have Sungmin, a girl who was just as pretty as her (if in a cuter, more innocent sort of way) and considerably less temperamental. In fact, Sungmin was so attractive and kind-hearted that Heechul had slapped many a boy on her behalf. Sungmin had never accepted a boy's confession, and if they got upset with her, she was too forgiving to defend herself.

"Sungmiin-ah," Heechul cooed, pulling her friend along into the kitchen for water. "I still don't know why you don't kick ass when they grab you like that," she lamented dramatically, twirling around on her way to the refrigerator.

"It wouldn't be fair," Sungmin answered, her voice soft and sweet and not the least bit tipsy. She knew better than to drink; her body couldn't handle it and it would only encourage even more unwanted suitors. "Learning martial arts has turned out to be more of a burden than a self-defense skill. I'm afraid of hurting someone. And I really wish you wouldn't call me that, Heechul-ah," she added, only a slight whine in her tone when she leaned on the counter tiredly. "It's embarrassing."

Heechul scoffed, pulling several bottles of water from the fridge (and a few cups of chocolate pudding, just because). "I wish I had your name and it would be so easy for people to flatter me," she complained, handing Sungmin a water and pudding. "It's such a cute nickname, Sungmiin-ah," she cooed again, leaning forward to press a kiss to her friend's cheek. Sungmin laughed and pushed her away, rubbing at the glossy red smudge on her face. "But seriously," Heechul said, eyes focusing hard on Sungmin as she placed her hands on her shoulders. "You are so small and lightweight - I hate you for that, by the way - and these guys are so much bigger than you, you could get hurt if you don't show them you're not going to put up with it. I really worry about you sometimes. I won't always be there to slap them and stomp on their feet with my heels," she said, slightly exasperated.

Sungmin bowed her head, embarrassed to have such problems. Heechul sighed and leaned back onto the counter dramatically.

"What you need is a skinny boyfriend who can't throw you around like all these big, dumb jocks that keep coming onto you, then I won't have to worry so much. We'll go shopping for one tomorrow. I also need some new red pumps," she said with a dreamy smile and pushed off the counter, water in one hand, pudding in the other, and called for Sungmin to follow.

"Come along, Sungmiin-ah!"

Sungmin let out a weary sigh and followed her eccentric friend to her bedroom, tearing open her pudding cup a little roughly and starting on it before she even caught up to Heechul.
