The storm ranged outside, sand pounding against the sides of the ramshackle lean-to, slithering in through myriad cracked metal seams and badly spackled joints to whirl madly at their feet before going on its way. The man on the cot stared up at her, a mixture of fear and hope gleaming in his eyes, reflected in every minute twitch of his body, the instinct to flee warring with the more rational knowledge that any sort of healing would be better than a slow death marked by agony and madness

I am not quite sure where this one came from. -_-;

Kira followed, she knew. He meant well. Maybe he even understood.
Hinamori flitted from shadow to shadow, from hallway to hallway. Always she paced the perimeter of her prison, waiting for Him to come back for her. This was just a test, she knew. A trial meant to make her stronger, to make her ready for when He came back for her, when He decided she was finally ready to join the ranks of his new army.
All she had to do was wait. Patiently. Bide her time. And one day her chance would come.

That was awesome, and completely out of the blue. Thank you! I love how steadfast Kira is, even in the knowledge that he may have to do the unthinkable and oweoriejwio.
Ivan stood tall and straight behind Miles, watching the proceedings over the other boy's shoulder with hawk-life intensity. The suite was a pricey one, but they'd swindled their way to it fair and square, Jayne's yelps of "Dirty cheatin' bastards!" to the contrary.

For once, he caught on.
"Well then, that makes you a cashew then, doesn't it?"
River stared at him with wide brilliant eyes, almost suspended in mid-leap for a moment, then landed in a flurry of delighted laughter, thrilled that this once, her brother had managed to make sense of her warped brain chemistry and language centers.
It was a good day, Simon thought. Today was a very good day.

I'm glad you liked it. It's a facet of Ivan (and Miles!) that I love to showcase, I admit.
