Farm Update

Jun 28, 2007 20:08

It has rained almost every day for the past five days -- which is great news! We were officially classified as a "Severe Drought" area, which, coupled with the late hard freeze, was making the first year on the farm not-so-productive from a food standpoint.

We've taken in more yellow straightneck squash and zucchini squash than we know what to do ( Read more... )

Sounds wonderful!

Bert's taking the NCLEX next month. He's already invaluable to the telemetry floor at the VA, and we have hopes his schedule will become decent hours again soon (i.e., not working until midnight every day! That's okay in summer, but during the school year? We'd NEVER see each other.)

I'm still writing for hours a day (the good), but have made little to no progress on the actual novel (the bad). Still, what I am writing is pretty damned cool, and I think I'm getting better at it every day.

Summer is, of course, too short. :)

Sounds like things are going well for y'all, too! You can't rush writing -- it either comes or it doesn't. I just wish you weren't trying to Hurt Children on the Intarwebs with all your evil stories. (I'm totally kidding.)

LOL Have you seen my disclaimer on my profile? Puts the responsibility squarely where it belongs - on the parents. How very retro of me....

What a lovely farm. :)

I like squash boiled with onions.

Plant some strawberries!

Wait... *I* like squash boiled with onions! There's only one downside to eating so much squash. Um, let's just say it makes you very, very, very regular. Like every hour on the hour.

Strawberries are definitely in the plans, as are blueberries. We just planted some mint over in an isolated area where it can't spread TOO much.

Thank you for putting on a kimono and bringing me melon slices.

I'm on a boat to Block Island, RI to play a monthlong engagement at a resort. And there's a tiny internet tube here.

You need to do a Folsom Prison album. But I'm scared you would end up being chained to a bunk with a guy named Ricky. And like it.

I hope the touring continues to go well. I live my life vicariously through my talented friends.

You're welcome at Blakelee Farms anytime you want. Just say the word. We have extra bedrooms.

Or we could always put you in a stall in the barn. >:)

That's awesome! I guess since the Broncos and Seahawks aren't in the same conference, we can get along. :)

Thanks for sharing the pic. Is that one of your icons?
