Title: Kyuupid-kun
Pairing: Chinen Yuri x Kawashima Umika
Genre: Fluff, Fluff, Romance
Author:
macymacymacySummary: Umika is left with his baby nephew, Kyuu-kun.
Rating: G?
AN: Heavily influenced by the anime Daa! Daa! Daa! (specifically, episode 25 XDD). This is an old plot for my supposed-to-be own story but I didn't have the chance to write then. I was really happy when I realized this plot fits UmiChii perfectly. XD
Warning: UNBETA-ed, sorry if there are any wrong grammars...
‘Finally!’ Umika thought.
She, at last, had a break. She was so busy these days because of so many projects but today she was finally let off.
She woke up in high spirits. She also had the house for herself today because her mom and dad have work and would be home late.
But before she could even go to the bathroom and freshen up, her door burst open and in came her eighteen years old cousin, Haruka, with her eighteen months old son, Kyuu.
“Nee-chan!” Umika uttered.
“Umika-chan, I’m sorry but you said you don’t have work today and I can’t really go to anyone else. Please take care of Kyuu-chan for today. We were supposed to go out with his dad but then my parents called and said they’d visit today and you know they don’t know and I have to warm up to dad before I introduce him.” She said all that while she passed his son to Umika. “Everything he needs is in this bag. I’m sorry, Umika-chan,” she pressed a kissed on her cheeks and on her son’s forehead. “Thank you.” And then she was gone.
Umika was left staring at her door.
“Ka-chan!” Kyuu’s voice broke her shocked state.
She didn’t really mind taking care of Kyuu-kun. He was very intelligent and very well-behaved. It just happened so fast her cousin looked like a blur.
“So I guess it’s just you and me today, Kyuu-kun.” She said beaming at her nephew.
“Ka-chan!” he called again. He can’t really talk well yet so all he can say from ‘Umika-chan’ was the last syllables, ‘Ka-chan.’
He settled Kyuu first in her bed while she took her postponed trip to the bathroom.
After that, she took Kyuu and Kyuu’s bag and went downstairs, to their living room.
Umika noticed almost all of Kyuu’s things were a shade of the color blue.
“Do you like blue?” she asked Kyuu and he replied with a “Kyaa!”
They watched the television for a while. But then Umika’s tummy started complaining. So she took Kyuu and went to their kitchen.
She found out that they used up all their groceries.
She contemplated about it and decided she’ll just do their grocery.
‘Mom and Dad are very busy, and besides I have free time today.’
So she took Kyuu to her room, settled him on her bed again and changed clothes.
She wore her cap, her scarf and her sunglasses so that no one would recognize her.
She also changed Kyuu’s clothes and prepared his bag of essentials and then they set off.
“Seems like there’s an occasion here today, ne, Kyuu?” Umika said when she noticed the balloons and other decorations in the grocery store.
They ate first at the fast food then set off to buy the groceries.
Umika placed Kyuu on the cart.
They had fun doing the grocery.
Kyuu would laugh whenever Umika would speed the cart even just a bit.
When they got to the meat section, the vendor talked to Umika, advertising their products.
Both didn’t see that Kyuu was trying to get a hold of a blue balloon placed on the stand near where the
cart was.
Umika only noticed when Kyuu was already half standing but it was too late. Kyuu lost his balance.
Kyuu fell but someone caught him. A boy.
Umika rushed to them.
“Oh my God, Kyuu-kun, are you okay?” she coddled. “Thank you so much,” she said to the boy. “Kyuu-kun, don’t scare me like that!” she went back to Kyuu.
Kyuu cried. He didn’t like the feeling of falling and now Umika-chan’s angry with him.
“I’m sorry, Kyuu-kun. I’m not angry.” Umika soothed.
“Ka-chan!” he called.
“Eeeeeh?!” Umika’s attention went to the boy.
And now that Umika had a proper look at him, she realized that it was Chinen.
“Chinen-kun!” she gasped.
“Kawashima-san,” he seemed to have recognized her earlier. “You-? You have a son?!”
Umika didn’t know what he meant but then she remembered that Kyuu called her ‘Ka-chan.’
“No!!!” she denied profusely.
“He’s my cousin's! He doesn’t talk fluently yet so he could only say ‘Ka-chan’ instead of ‘Umika-chan’!” she explained in one breath.
“Oh…” said Chinen sounding strangely relieved.
“I, I’ll take Kyuu-kun, then.” Umika said.
They stood up. Chinen passed Kyuu to Umika but Kyuu wasn’t letting go of Chinen.
“Kyuu-kun? What’s wrong? Come with me now.” Umika said.
But Kyuu-kun still didn’t let go.
About half an hour passed but they were still in the same situation. Kyuu just wouldn’t let go.
“I’m sorry about this Chinen-kun.” Umika said apologetically.
“It’s not really your fault.” Chinen replied, still holding Kyuu.
“I don’t understand why he’s like this today. He’s usually meek.”
Chinen just smiled at Umika.
“Come on, Kyuu-kun. Let go of Chinen-kun.”
“Chii!!” squealed Kyuu.
“Yes, Kyuu-kun. Let go of Chii.”
Umika didn’t noticed when Chinen’s face turned red as she muttered his nickname.
“Chichi! Chichi!” Kyuu squeaked, bouncing.
And then Kyuu went obediently to Umika.
“Thank God.” Umika said when she finally had Kyuu in her arms.
“Uhmm, Kawashima-san?” Chinen called.
“Hai?” Umika looked at Chinen. He was pointing at his hand. Kyuu was still grasping his hand.
They both sighed.
“I’m sorry, Chinen-kun.” Umika said once again.
“Maybe we should take a stroll around the mall first. Maybe he would fall asleep.” Chinen recommended.
Umika agreed. It was a good thing the grocery store was right next to the mall. They left their groceries first at the baggage counter and proceeded to the mall.
“Okay, Kyuu-kun. Where do you want to go first?” Umika asked Kyuu.
“Chichi!” the little boy replied.
“You want Chichi to carry you?” Umika didn’t noticed she accidentally called Chinen ‘Chichi’ but Chinen’s red face shows that he did.
“Kyaa!!!” squealed Kyuu.
‘This little guy seems fond of squealing,’ thought Chinen.
“Is it okay?” Umika asked Chinen.
“Sure.” He said, taking Kyuu.
“Chichi!!! Kyaaaa!”
‘Yup, definitely fond of squealing.’ Chinen conclude.
They first went to the toy store. Kyuu was pointing everywhere.
Umika took Kyuu again after awhile but Kyuu still didn’t let go of Chinen’s hand.
Chinen started playing with Kyuu. Umika thought it was so cute when Chinen would copy the expression and poses of the anime action figures that Kyuu would point.
They next went to the pet shop.
Chinen took Kyuu once again. Kyuu loved the rabbits. He got to pet them.
Umika started playing peek-a-boo with Kyuu when they went by the fountains. She would hide at the back of Chinen, peeked at Kyuu from the right and say ‘boo.’ Then she would do the same from the left.
That made Kyuu laughed so hard.
That also made Chinen smiled.
Especially when Umika took Kyuu again and rubbed her nose with Kyuu’s.
‘She’s so natural with children.’
They hadn’t really talked a lot in school because of the rules and everything. This was his first time seeing this side of Umika.
After two hours of wandering around the mall, Kyuu finally fell asleep.
But then he still hadn’t let go of Chinen’s hand. They tried to release his hand around Chinen’s but his grip was strong. And the more they tried, the more he held more tightly.
“I’m sorry Kawashima-san but I really need to go back now. My friends are coming over, you see.” Chinen said quietly. He didn’t want to wake up the sleeping guy.
“I’m sorry, Chinen-kun. I don’t know how to make him let go of you. He seems to really like you.” Umika said.
“Do you have any appointment today?”
“No, I don’t have work today.”
“Then, if it’s okay with you, can you and Kyuu maybe stay at my place in the mean time? I don’t think he’ll hold me forever. But I really do need to go back. I’m sorry.” Chinen suggested.
“It’s no problem at all. Let’s do that. Chinen-kun, I’m really sorry for the trouble.”
“No worries. I’ve grown quite fond of Kyuu-kun, too.” Chinen said, pinching Kyuu’s cheeks. And Umika just had to smile.
They exited the mall and walk to the grocery store. It was hot outside so Umika pulled her cap off and put it on Kyuu’s head. They took their groceries from the baggage counter and then Chinen called a cab.
Kyuu was still sleeping soundly when they got to Chinen’s house.
It wasn’t easy to get off the cab as Umika was holding Kyuu and Kyuu was still holding Chinen’s hand. Furthermore, both were trying not to wake Kyuu up.
And Chinen have to carry their groceries, too.
When they got in front of their door, Chinen put their groceries down and his hand slipped from Kyuu’s.
Kyuu woke up.
“AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!” he cried.
Umika tried to pacify him but he continued crying.
“Sorry, Kyuu-chan!” said Chinen, hurriedly opening the door, and bringing the groceries in while he was free. Then he went right back to Umika and Kyuu.
“Ka-chan!! Chichi!!” Kyuu called not being able to see Umika or Chinen because of Umika’s cap.
Chinen, spotting the problem removed the cap. He then took hold of Kyuu’s hand.
“Kyuu-kun, we’re here.” Chinen said. Both he and Umika brought their faces close to Kyuu.
“Ka-chan? Chichi?” he asked.
“That’s right, Kyuu-kun. Ka-chan and Chichi are right here."
Kyuu finally relaxed.
The three of them entered Chinen’s house.
And inside they saw the whole Hey! Say! JUMP.
“Oh, you guys are here already. Mom let you in?” Chinen said.
Only then did he notice that his friends were acting weird. They weren’t moving and were just staring at them.
“Guys?” Chinen asked at large.
Yuto broke the silence.
He stood up and shouted, “Chinen!” pointing at him.
Ryosuke stood up as well, “You!” he pointed at Chinen, “and you?!?!” he pointed at Umika, “h-how-when did this happen?!” he said disconcerted.
“What are you guys talking about?” But then Chinen realized Kyuu called them ‘Ka-chan’ (mom) and ‘Chichi’ (dad).
“NO!!!!” he said going red. It seems Umika caught on, too, because she was the same shade.
“This is my nephew, he calls me ‘Ka-chan’ from ‘Umika-chan’” Umika said
“And he calls me ‘Chichi’ from Chinen!” Chinen piped.
“He’s not mine! We-we’re not-!” Umika continued. Chinen and Umika looked at each other and impossibly, turned redder.
. . .
“Oh…” Hey! Say! JUMP said as one.
Yuto scratched his head.
“Sorry… We just thought…” he smiled sheepishly at them.
“Jeez, Chii, you’ll give me a heart attack.” Yuya said.
The Horikoshi students introduced Umika to the rest of the band. After that, Umika and Chinen explained their situation.
“Ah, so this little guy doesn’t want to part from his Chichi.” Hikaru said ruffling Kyuu’s hair. Kyuu laughed.
“Yeah… I’m really sorry to barge in like this.” Umika said to the room.
“No problem. We could still hang out and besides, the more, the merrier.” Ryutaro said.
Hey! Say! JUMP still tried to go on with their plans but they had to make many changes.
Like their movie. They were supposed to watch Final Destination 4 but instead they watched Peter Pan.
It was still fun. Actually, maybe it was more fun. The whole Hey! Say! JUMP was no match for Kyuu’s cuteness. He had them wrapped around his little fingers. He played with them, but still, he wouldn’t let go of Umika or Chinen.
Umika thought it was a good thing that they went there. Kyuu was having so much fun.
Yabu-san also played peek-a-boo with Kyuu. But instead of saying ‘peek-a-boo’ he would say ‘Ya-boo!’ Kyuu-kun started calling him ‘Boo!’
Takaki-san seemed to really like kids. He would always go to Kyuu and make weird faces to make Kyuu laugh.
Okamoto-san was teaching Kyuu some English even though Umika explained that he can’t really talk yet.
Morimoto-san, Yaotome-san and Inoo-san took so many pictures of and with Kyuu-kun. They even took a photo of just Umika, Chinen and Kyuu.
And Yamada-kun, Nakajima-kun and Arioka-kun blended fruits for Kyuu to eat. She has to remind herself to tell Mirai-chan about Yamada-kun blending strawberries for cute, little Kyuu-kun. And to tell Suzu-chan about Nakajima-kun almost destroying the blender when he put almost half of the watermelon there.
But then after eating his blended fruits, Kyuu-kun pooped. So Umika had to change his diapers.
It wasn’t easy for he still wouldn’t let go of Chinen’s hand.
Looking at them, Daiki thought they could really pass as a family. Kyuu looks a lot like Kawashima-san and Kyuu was just so cute like Chii. And Kawashima-san and unexpectedly, Chii was really good at taking care of Kyuu-kun.
After a little while, Kyuu started crying. Umika started cradling him.
“He’s sleepy.” Umika said to Chinen.
They sat on the couch (Kyuu was still holding Chinen) and Umika started singing a lullaby.
Chinen thought Umika really deserved to be a popular singer.
Umika stopped her singing and smiled when Inoo-san started playing the organ. It lulled Kyuu more.
After awhile, Kyuu fell asleep. Inoo stopped playing and left them.
Chinen was about to tell Umika but then he realized that she was asleep, too.
Chinen smiled at Umika’s sleeping face.
But then something pulled him. Kyuu-kun stretched pulling Chinen’s hand as well and resulting to Chinen landing on Umika. To be more specific: his lips landing on Umika’s.
He pulled back at once. Going red (again), he was relieved to see that he didn’t wake Umika up. He stood up.
“Chii!” Yabu and Hikaru whispered/called from the doorway.
Chinen moved closer to them.
“Inoo said they fell asleep. I didn’t let them all come here cause you know how quiet they are” Yabu said. “But we’ll be going now, it’s getting late.”
Chinen was relieved, he thought for a while that they saw that.
“Oh, okay then.” Chinen said.
“Say goodbye to Kawashima-san and Kyuu-kun for us.” Hikaru said.
“Sure, let me accompany you to the door.” Chinen said.
“Bye.” The rest of JUMP waved at Chinen.
When he got back, Umika was already steering.
“Sorry, I dozed off.”
“You didn’t even sleep for ten minutes, I’m sure you’re tired.” Chinen said.
“I’m fine.” Umika smiled at him. “Everyone already left?”
“Just now.”
“Oh, Kyuu let go of you!” Umika said only realizing now.
“Yeah.”
“We can go home now.” She said, already deftly arranging Kyuu’s things.
“Thanks for having us.” Umika said. “And I’m sorry again for the bother.”
“Actually, I had a great time.” Chinen said helping Umika gather their things.
“That’s good to hear.” She beamed at him.
After they put everything in Kyuu’s bag, Umika carefully carried Kyuu-kun.
“I’ll escort you home.” Chinen said.
“No need, I’ve already bugged you enough.”
“Don’t be silly. You have to carry Kyuu-kun and the groceries. I’ll help.”
Umika still looked uncertain.
“I’m not letting you leave if I’m not with you.” Chinen pushed.
Umika smiled, he was just so sweet.
“Fine then, if you insist.”
They went out and took a cab. When they got to Umika’s home, Chinen got off the cab and carried Umika’s groceries to their front porch.
“Thank you, Chichi,” Umika went red when she realized what she said.
“I mean, Chinen. Jeez, I’m already used to calling you that.” She giggled then looked at the sleeping Kyuu in her arms.
“It’s fine if you call me that.” Chinen said.
“Are you sure?” she said, raising an eyebrow.
“Yeah. I’d like a new nickname.”
She laughed, “but please don’t call me ‘Ka-chan’” Umika said. “But Umika-chan is fine.”
“Eeeeh? But I got used to calling you ‘Ka-chan,’ too!”
“Please don’t” Umika deadpanned. Chinen laughed.
Umika joined him after a while.
“But Chichi,” Umika said and Chinen smiled, “get going now. It’s getting late.”
“Oh yeah. Bye then, Ka-chan.” Chinen teased.
Umika pouted. And as if that was a silent cue, Chinen leaned in and dip his lips to hers.
The kiss was gentle and uncertain. His mouth only rested against hers, and he made no move to deepen the kiss, as if waiting for Umika to push him away.
Umika scold herself for not reacting at once but that was out of shock.
Before Chinen could pull away, she responded to the kiss.
Kyuu-kun smiled. But he wouldn’t move. He would continue pretending to sleep. He didn’t want to disturb his ‘Ka-chan’ and ‘Chichi.’
END
EXTRA:
And the next day, in School Kakumei, Chinen was asked to enact his proposal. Thinking of Kyuu-kun he blurted, "Let's make a baby who can sit with us here." (can't really remember the exact words. XD)
