I've got to watch it.  I keep being mad at myself for not being able to hold the speed I know I can do or get the distance I know I can get, but it's REALLY early in the season and I've got to cut myself some slack.  I can't emerge from tax season and - BAM - immediately bound over the hills that were achieved goals from past seasons.

Ladies, would you find it odd if some casual acquaintance woman asked your husband to go for a bike ride with her?

Yes.

It makes sense if you're a roadie, but I can see how it would look odd to the non-bike-riding spouse. The guys know it's not a come-on.

As long as everyone is cool with it, then it's not weird. But yeah, not being a roadie, I would find it strange if some lady acquaintance asked my (imaginary) husband to go bike riding.

But I asked a female acquaintance to spin with me this winter. She seemed very excited about it, but never came out. I eventually asked Sarah to nag her about it, sort of to send the message that it really was just about the free spinning, without ulterior motives. She still didn't come out. But yeah, I'd ask you, too, and if I recall, I think we have a standing engagement with the notch if I'm ever up that way.
Although, considering I've ridden less this month than you have this week, I'd be making like my phantom spin partner if I did live in the ol' happy valley!

While not a roadie myself, as the wife of one (or one who aspires), I'd completely understand and be grateful that I didn't have to feel guilty that I don't like riding that much. So sure, go ahead. But the commuting distance is a bit far.
