I don't think metaphorical beings have a habit of trying to kill me.

Homunculi are created beings, each the embodiment of their name, and I seem to have gotten on their bad side. One of them is in the City.

Of course not. If I had any sort of influence over them, fighting them wouldn't be such a dangerous risk to my person.

It's more the reverse-- they have control over me, at home.

But they're not generally the sort to give fair warning, and let me choose time and place-- except in that fight against Envy, I was forced to, because the Colonel had made him angry, and Winry was in danger. And it had to be just the two of us, but one alchemist and a sharpshooter versus two homunculi isn't fair under any circumstances.
