Day 2: Rose's Room, St Vlad's, Montana | Wednesday evening FH Time

Feb 10, 2010 16:53

If Rose thought anymore about what had happened with Dimitri in the gym earlier, she was going to either go insane with wanting him or get angrier at herself for pushing something when she was out of control.

She didn't regret kissing him exactly, but she regret losing her temper before and everything she'd said.  She was just - so tired of trying ( Read more... )

Elena was stretched on her bed, doing annoying paperwork again -- at least this time the handwriting was somewhat legible, which reminded her, she owed Reno more porn -- when her cell rang. Rose's number.

"Hey," she said, picking it up. "How's Montana?"

"Cold," Rose shot back dryly. She flopped back on the bed. "How's Fandom?"

"Also cold," Elena sighed. "The snow is coming down like it's got something against us. Are you catching up with people?"

Or blowing them off to spend time with Dimitri the Amazingly Hot? That was an acceptable answer, too.

"Yeah, a little," Rose said, sounding tired. "They're all still in class until tomorrow."

Banality was easier than actually talking.

Jack was at his desk, trying to force himself through a few exercises in an algebra text. He wasn't bad at math, but it was definitely his weakest academic subject if he wanted to compete on a college level.

Which was why there was a bit of a frown in his voice when he picked up the phone, though the fact Rose's name showed on the display made for a happy distraction -- though, since he didn't know she was in Montana, he did wonder why she was calling instead of checking his room. "Hello there," he said. "Too busy to come find me?"

"Little far to walk," she told him, smiling a little to hear his voice. "I mean, I know I'm good, but 2,000 miles is a bit much, you know?"

2,000 miles? What was 2,000 miles -- oh. Montana?

"And now I'm hurt you don't think I'm worth it," Jack mock-pouted, before leaning back in his chair and propping his feet on his desk. "Why are you home, anyhow? Are you home?"

"Maybe only if you really needed it," Rose said then agreed. "I'm at St. Vlad's. I was supposed to have my Qualifier yesterday. It's one of the things that leads up to the trials at graduation."

Alex wasn't a very cordial guy in the first place so it shouldn't surprise Rose that he picked up his phone with a clipped, "Yeah?"

Someone didn't check their caller ID.

"Calling about your pizza delivery," Rose said, snickering at the answer.

"You're late," Alex said, going with it. "That mean I get my pizza free?"

"Hell, no, it means I ate it," Rose replied. "Better luck next time with that."

Emma had been busy sulking off today's class with Drake when her phone rang. Honestly, she thought caller ID was one of the best inventions of this decade.

"Emma's house of vice," she drawled. "How may we serve?"

"You only answer the phone that way when you know you're not going to be taken up on it," Rose accused.

"Lies," Emma answered blithely. "I only answer the phone that way when I know it's someone that will find it funny. Or someone I can make flail."

Rose snorted. "Try to say I'm the second one, and I'll totally kick your ass," she teased.

The good thing about phone calls was that, if her phone went off in the middle of the graveyard and she jumped when she heard the ringtone, Kennedy never had to admit to it.

"Yo, Rose." Totally not a little freaked out at all, shut up. "Way to take off all out of nowhere on me. What's up?"

Rose snickered. "Forget you were carrying a phone, Kennedy?" she teased. "What's up with that?"

"Oh, shut up. I'm tired, and only crazy people call me at this hour," Kennedy blustered, leaning against the nearest gravestone. "Lucky for you, I like 'em crazy. Oh, and by the way? You so suck for turning into a cooler animal than I did."

"I'm not crazy; I'm on a weirdass schedule," Rose argued. "So you better like 'em not crazy too. And you can totally be a bobcat next time. I don't wanna be pouncing on post-its again."
