Most likely, it doesn't need the accent, and I'll go correct it. Thank you for catching it and telling me! And I'd say it's from my jackdaw brain, but I think it might also be from Microsoft Word 'correcting' my spelling. Thank you!

I don't know : never saw that form in French... If it is French, it should be "salle", without the accent (unless it's an old form of French?).
Or "salle d'armes", which is either where the arms would be stored (including firearms), or where "escrime" is practiced.
It doesn't really matter : I was just curious about the origins of the word. I'm like that about words ;-)
