DIY etc.

raygungothic has informed me that the quality of my writing on here makes me sound more bubbleheaded than I actually am. It is also not as good as the writing in my PhD chapters. I growled at him for this comment but, looking back through earlier posts, he has a point. Therefore, I am going to use this post about DIYing as a writing exercise. It is an ( Read more... )

My writing style on here & my thesis are vastly different (in the same way that my 'giving a seminar' persona is vastly better at speaking slowly & clearly than I usually am). I think it's partly a defense mechanism at the moment to give my brain a rest from work!

How goes the PhD? Do you still get to play with skeletons or are you just on writing up like I am?

I would still argue that we are making good progress.

I would say you are making excellent progress & I shall have to point lemming-man towards these posts to try to make him get a move on with his/our* flat.... he promised to have it done by the new year but that seems to have failed utterly!
(* varies depending on how annoyed I get at it!)

This is great news, and yes, you're definitely making excellent progress!

I'm sure that your dyspraxia doesn't entirely prohibit your contributing in a major way to the renovation process, either--you can do tasks that involve more gross motor control, right? Do you plan to paint the walls? That might be an ideal area where you can take the lead and have the SO help you, instead of the other way around.

Walls painted already. That part I can and have done. It's not all the DIY, just most of it.

Also, I put myself in charge of kitchen arrangement which has worked beautifully and was quite good when the boy was hammering for a while but then I finished kitchen arranging and got bored.

If you keep the pretty wooden stairs, make sure your footwear is always at least a little grippy. [nods] You could always tell how recently my mum'd cleaned the stairs by the frequency of sock-related injuries sustained.
