Okay, the big fella is really getting full of himself, isn’t he? I saw a few of your comments about the library construction, but I didn’t remember to stop over at the NAB until today. And wow…I’d say that George has some real balls on him to put up that brag library, except that I would then get in a rut of trying to think of funny food-related ( Read more... )

Well, HBO has proven with the Sopranos that they will put a series on hold forever, so it might work out. Of course, a 4 year hiatus is a bit much but maybe TV studios are just as patient as publishers.

I think he is going to wait until the HBO writers catch up to him, then they'll write an ending, which he'll steal for the end of the books.

Actually, given that he probably only hangs out with other writers, and some of them successful, he has probably taken a lesson from them to set up his own work ( ... )

Given what I've read on his NAB, he only hangs out with chili-con-queso and Tai. I wouldn't call the pack of yammering assholes who fart out a Wild Cards book every so often "writers". If thats your definition, then maybe I'm a writer because I can type with more than one finger.

There's a pretty big difference between putting your trophies on a shelf or hanging a platinum record on your wall and building (at great personal expense and inconvenience) a frigging library tower to enshrine your own awesomeness. And then piggishly whining about it in your blog and expecting "Huzzahs" from your douchebag fans when your "Temple of Me" is completed, including lighted alcoves for your super-neat, jack-off-material miniatures that only 13 year-old virgin boys could POSSIBLY find interesting. (Anyone else getting a creepy Neverland Ranch vibe from the Lord of Chicken Bones?)

Also, its Nabokov (Nah-BO-kuhv). If you're going to wax pseudo-intellectual, at least get the spelling right. It lends you an air of credibility.

Also, did anyone else read about how the Wild Cards bullshit got started? Its basically their own faggoty lil' D'n'D world they're writing about!! Have you ever had the pleasure of being bored to fucking tears when someone felt the need to explain to you AT LENGTH their D'n'D characters/adventures/group/buffet line antics? That's essentially all Wild Cards is. And he's been plugging that horseshit and expecting us to get amped up about it! What a cock!

There's no question that Wild Cards is bottom-of-the-barrel trash but I don't think that has anything to do with its origins as a roleplaying campaign. Rather, it has to do with the fact that its orginators are overweight comix nerds who, even as adults, look up to cartoon characters and get aroused when they see old issues of Spiderman in plastic slip covers.

Have you ever read the Malazan Book of the Fallen? It started life as a roleplaying campaign and is actually pretty good. I've never been into roleplaying but it can't be all bad if it inspired that series.

Because Martin's sycophants have been known to stalk and start drama and all these good people want is a safe space in which to vent their frustrations without being attacked for it.

Or they don't have LJ accounts.

What's it to you?
