Okay, the big fella is really getting full of himself, isn’t he? I saw a few of your comments about the library construction, but I didn’t remember to stop over at the NAB until today. And wow…I’d say that George has some real balls on him to put up that brag library, except that I would then get in a rut of trying to think of funny food-related ( Read more... )

Will the lowest bid electrical work short out causing El Gordo to lose all of his toys and test his back up system?

That would be so sweet.

There's no way George will finish the series on time. I look forward to watching the ending on HBO! Yay! I just want an ending. I'm bored with this mess.

I just checked it out. It is just one wise crack after another. It should read like this

1:01 pm eats nachos
1:45 pm eats nachos
2:30 pm eats burrito
2:45 pm eats nachos

I found this quote absolutely hilarious:And the bookshelves... well, I'll just have to write some books to fill those.
Books? Plural. C'mon George who are you trying to kid? You can't even write half a book, how are you going to write books?

I am rather skeptical that HBO will cover the whole story (even if there is a whole story to cover - which is doubtful). My guess is that they'll do the first three books only. Rome was a great show, but they canceled it after just two seasons because they said it was too expensive. I don't see ASoIaF being any less expensive than Rome. I do have some measure of faith that whatever they do produce of the series will be excellent though. As it stands right now, this television series is the only thing I have to look forward to in the world of ASoIaF. We all know that HBO will meet its deadlines and have season one for us some time next year. George and ADwD on the other hand ( ... )

Even if HBO commits to the entire series, it'll take them four years to get to where we are if they indeed do one book per season. Assuming (I know, that's a big assumption) that GRRM finishes Dance within the next year, that'll give him about a five-year cushion. That should be enough time, even for him, to write and finish book 6, giving him yet another year.

So, in total, he could have six years to write the last two books. He's already accomplished such a feat with ACOK and ASOS, so he would just have to find a way to repeat it. Hopefully, as he begins wrapping up the series, he won't need to do so much revision/wholesale tossing out of chapters as he's done with Feast and Dance.

(Mind you, I have serious doubts as to how he can satisfactorily finish the series in just two books after Dance, but that's another subject.)

Again, Krafus, I find myself agreeing with you in every way. You are the voice of reason here, your negative comments always plausibly explained and rational, and your positive comments given where due. Are you sure you're on the right board? LOL.

Actually, I'm an amateur compared to our gracious hosts. I could never hope to match the brilliance and depth of detail of "In Offense of George R.R. Martin," or the hilariousness of several other of their posts. I try to provide the most balanced comments I can... but I'll be the first to admit I've gone off the rails several times on Westeros. And that I've had my head handed to me a number of times in arguments in the now 8+ years I've been there.

Also, yes, I'm quite sure I'm on the right board. The freedom to discuss Dance's (lack of) progress and to criticize GRRM without fear of censure or other form of retribution are what initially drew me to this board, and I've stayed because I enjoy the community (which is not to say I agree with the tone and/or content of every single comment).
