JIB6 :: Photo Op update

Jul 13, 2014 09:48

So it looks like I got at least one of my two photo op requests.  After 14-ish hours of processing the email requests, Daniela announced this morning that all emails have gone out to those who did *not* get *any* of their requests.  Now I guess I wait to here details.  I will need to pay via a bank wire transfer. Which means I will actually need to ( Read more... )

How cool that you at least got something. You really do need to record the moment that you were there, so even though you said you already have enough pics with the boys, to experience the process at this particular Con is something you should have, especially if this is a one-time deal. And to have the proof that you were there, and who knows, they may even recognize you, or react something special when they see a fellow American. Excited to hear what you got.

Yeah, this is exactly what my enabler T said to me. LOL.

Of course in order to have a decent time traveling all that distance I have a goal to get back to a better weight. Last time I did that, the boys did not recognize me. LOL. So even if I do have a photo with them, there's a halfway decent chance that (hopefully) given my changed appearance and the different venue and the volume of fans they see all the time, there would be no recognition. lol.

But yeah, as you and T both said, having an official photographic record is a good thing. :)

True, given the different venue, country and amount of people they see, they may not recognize you. BUT, the will recognize an American accent, or shall I say, lack of a foreign accent, so that alone would be cause for recognition, as I would think most of those attending would have a foreign accent.

I guess we always hope the people from the show recognize us. :)

But I'm just grateful to be GOING to ... ROME!

Making a wire transfer from the US could add a pretty high fee from your bank. At least that's what I hear from other friends. Might be worth checking if one of your friends in Europe has a cheaper way to pay and would be willing to help you out.

Huh, I hadn't thought of that. I guess I could ask my friend who I'm attending with. But I had to bother her more. I'll wait to see what the fee may be. Thanks for the tip. I will keep it in mind.

congrats!
have you considered using paypal?

Oh I use Paypal all the time. But JIB does not take Paypal. For some reason - the fact they are non-profit and/or overseas, not sure, they will only take wire transfers or some other service which seems to be similar, but just as high fees.

that's too bad. too bad they don't take credit cards.
okay, while i'm at it, WHY DO THEY MAKE THEIR WHOLE PROCESS SO DAMN DIFFICULT...not that i'll ever attend, but whatever. (the same applies to asylum)

Oh man all the nerves. That's why I didn't like JIB :\ Too many difficulties for nothing. But super happy for you that you got AT LEAST one of your requests! I know a lot of people who didn't even get their passes :\

And as for recognition - boys do remember some of the fans who goes to cons quite often, so fingers crossed! :D

It's always nice when the folks on the show recognize us. :)

I feel fortunate that I haven't felt that nervous about the process. I think because I have past cons in my belt and I KNOW I have future ones already booked. So while I really wanted to go to ROME and get photo ops, during the whole process I also thought it would be "OK" if it didn't work out for me. My wallet would certainly like me better. :P

Was this last JIB your first jIB?

Yeah it was my first JIB and the second con ever (well, TECHNICALLY the third one, but the first one was that Paris one, so...)
And frankly - probably it was the last. I'm not sure why, maybe because it was, like, three weeks after DC con or what, but I just could not shake the states out of my head you know? I found myself constantly comparing the cities, the countries, the cons and everything. I preferred the American convention. But yeah, Rome does have much more panels with the actors and all. But people aren't the same. Plus there's always a LOT of Russians and we all know what reputation we have and just this overall nationality thing - people seem to go in groups, like, Russians with Russians, Italians with Italians, etc. I felt that there wasn't this feeling of - how do you say it? - wholeness? Sort of? The atmosphere at the DC con was much more easy and friendly. And I feel like it is people who make the con, not only actors, because you spend more time with other fans than actors, you know?

aw, you should have just stayed away from your Russians (who I admit ...some of the ones I see in Rome every year are rather loud) and should have joined us instead. While we have lots of Germans in our group, we tend to "adopt" people from everywhere. US, Australia, Norway, Finland, Netherlands, Swiss, UK...we are happy to have them all. And those people are exactly the ones why I love to go yo the cons. I seem to hang out with those people at cons everywhere. Be it Italy, Germany, UK, US or France. Russian would've been new. ;) But I'm glad I at least saw you very shortly although you probably don't remember that. Right before you were leaving while you were chatting with redteekal in the bar.
