[picspam] Road Not Taken confrontation scene

Jun 15, 2010 00:23

Found this lovely Olivia-centric vid in YouTube and wanted to share. It's Olivia kicking ass and taking names in season 1.

Also, I've come to the conclusion that if, for whatever reason, I landed in a middle of a gunfight I would be sticking by Olivia like industrial glue. I have never seen anyone so fierce in a gunfight like Olivia ( Read more... )

Oh yes, this was probably one of the best scenes of this entire show, thus far. Because as awesome as this show is, this scene really captures all of the conflict and...complications these three characters contain. This scene is one of the best for illustrating just what these characters have been and may become to each other. Where before Peter was the angry, wronged child, now it is Olivia filling this role, only she has the added righteous outrage for the other children, which when coupled with her sense of duty makes her a far more unforgiving party. And yet, even in spite of all this, she isn't unduly cruel, she barely raises her voice as far as I can remember, and all up, in her quiet rage, makes far more of an impact upon Walter than any of his son's immature failing and childish accusations of the past did ( ... )

It such a beautiful scene isn't it? And you're right about Peter and Olivia switching roles (especially since Walter was vocal about wanting Olivia to be his daughter, and I think in a way she is-- she is Bell and Walter's child but not their creation.)

I really love Olivia's anger its such a beautiful thing to see, she doesn't mince words or beat around the bush. She expresses herself clearly and lays down the facts, that's who she is.

Swoon away! Olivia deserves swooning!

Ahaha! Awesome - that's my youtube upload! I did it for my rec post ages ago but YouTube has a copyright claim on them that means I can't embed them elsewhere so I had to go with Vimeo for the actual post. I'm glad people are finding that stuff since I couldn't find it when I first went looking (hence the uploading).

Also, speaking of weird coincidences, firstly, that was a great vid, but also, I do not lie when I say that after I finish up a TSCC vid, my next project will be a Fringe vid and an Olivia vid to Three Doors Down is pretty high up on the list of ones to do first. *facepalm* OH OLIVIA, why do you seem so viddable to earnest 90s rock?

In other news, it's no surprise I love everything you say about Olivia and Walter here. The way the show simultaneously evokes empathy for Walter and condemns him is something I find very poignant and well-handled but also when it started not just presenting us with that complex version of Walter but allowing Olivia to be the one reminding us - very personally and very painfully - ( ... )

Hee! Really? So that's why I was like, hey, this account has the scenes I like! Thank you so much for uploading!

You're planning on making a Fringe vid??? My glee, I cannot express it!

it started not just presenting us with that complex version of Walter but allowing Olivia to be the one reminding us - very personally and very painfully - just how culpable Walter was in what's going on, it kind of took it to another level. I don't think many shows would do that or do that as well as this one.

Agreed and to have Fringe do that consistently was surprising. I didn't expect it from a show like this, in any other show someone like Walter would be woobified to the extent that his crimes would be forgotten, not in Fringe and not if Olivia (and Peter) has anything to say about it. And I love that the show itself is on Olivia's side, that I don't feel like there is a conflicting message about it.

It's more like...motivational anger. She doesn't deny how much it hurts her or how angry she is, but she also doesn't let it control her or ( ... )

You're welcome! It was just an account I opened last year to upload a few video files for a fan editing project I completed under a pseudonym and I couldn't use my regular streaming places for like...two of the files for various boring reasons. So when I needed to upload some Fringe stuff I kind of...remembered I still had it and probably had written down the password somewhere! Anyway, I'm glad it's seeing some use beyond just being a graveyard for aborted attempts at embedding clips. :)

As to vids, YAY! Yes, I have been planning on vidding Fringe for a while actually, it's just I'm currently entangled in a VIDWAR with chaila43, so I gotta kick her ass for a bit first. ;) But after that, Fringe is top of the list to vid, I'm just...still torn about which idea to go with. My Big Damn Olivia Vid is what I really want to make, but I think I should wait until the first few episodes of season three because considering the themes of the hypothetical vid, I think I might get some golden footage if I hang on a while.

I didn't expect it ( ... )

The embedded clips have really been helpful! I've used it twice now to show a particular clip to my sister, who is also, now very much hooked into the series!

The vidwar! I've been watching both sides and enjoying them (and really failing at feedback, which actually just amount to: *flaaaaail*).

I think I should wait until the first few episodes of season three because considering the themes of the hypothetical vid, I think I might get some golden footage if I hang on a while.

Ooh. I understand that! Especially if the upcoming episodes show an even more awesome Olivia moment!

whereas bringing Olivia into it is a really inspired way of making what Walter did real in a way that can't be written off.

Exactly! That! Other showrunners should sit down and made to watch how characters like Walter be written.

Thanks for both the vid and the picspam recs. I have seen the picspam before, but for whatever reason didn't bother to save it (whyohwhyohwhy?).

Your picspam is gorgeous too, and I have just finished rewatching The Road Not Taken, to come to the conclusion that the entire second half of that episode is completely awesome for a number of reason. I do like your comment, though, comparing Walter to other bad guys, because the show does do it and it really makes you question what makes Walter different (and in turn really think about the difference between him and Walternate).

You're welcome!

And I had to picspam because it was a scene that really grabbed me and surprised me. I didn't expect Olivia to confront Walter and especially not in the manner that she did. I should have known Olivia was planning something like this, but she was a cop through and through, she had to have evidence first before she questioned him.

This is another aspect of the show that surprised me I thought they'd just danced around Walter's past actions and darkness then suddenly, *bam* the show and Olivia are holding Walter accountable and that's when I fell in love with the show a little more.
