Who: Bit and You!
Where: Any street corner in Tron City, then anywhere we end up.
When: Whenever. Bit has a poor concept of time, and now you can too!
What: Bit broke a little bit (it isn't completely compatible with the new system and just needs a little TLC).
Note: Prose / action tags / dirty pictures : they're all good.

Bit had been on the New Grid ( Read more... )

C.L.U rolled along in his tank searching. He was searching for his Bit which went missing when he got out of his tank. He managed to avoid Sark's guards and escape desresolution. He was lucky. Right now, his priority was to find his guide and his friend. Bit meant more to him than most programs could know about.

He turned a corner and scoured the roadsides and tops of buildings for anything floating around. Nothing so far. He moved onto another section of road up ahead where he saw something blue on the ground. Was it him? C.L.U felt his circuits flash with alarm as he saw the little Bit lying on the ground. No.

He got out of his tank and picked the lifeless Bit up in his palm. 'Bit? Is that you? What happened to you?,' he felt an emotion well up inside of his circuits. Was this sadness? He looked down at his lifeless friend.

Bit wiggled once. It was pretty sure something important was happening but for some reason it was having a hard time focusing.

It shifted again and then simply gave up. Nope. Today it was too tired to get going.

C.L.U looked down sadly at the still Bit. What was wrong with him? Was it the environment? He wasn't sure. He took him in hand as he walked back to his tank and jumped back inside. The Bit still looked like it could do with reviving so Clu put him in the palm of his hands. He attempted to divert some of his energy into the Bit to revive him. He hoped it would work.

'Bit? Please respond...,'

This energy felt a little better. Actually it felt A LOT better. Also there was a sweet sweet directive! ALSO THAT VOICE SEEMED KIND OF FAMILIAR!!!

Bit came online with a sharp, "Yes!"

Boomer was out on one of his usual neighborhood patrols, and he only noticed it when it came to a stop right in his path.

"Huh." He stooped then, picking the little guy up gently, just holding it in the palm of one broad hand, giving it a gentle poke with his thumb, "Looks like somebody's out of energy."

He gave it a small charge then, not wanting to overload the little guy, just enough to hopefully bring it back online.

The bit took the charge, but there did seem to be an odd waste to some of the energy as it was released into the air.

Nonetheless it came online with a start and rolled around in the program's palm in thanks. It was just starting to rise into the air when the normally smooth changes on its body seemed to stall and glitch. Its fluid shape shifting stopped, started again, and then stopped entirely as the bit fell back into Boomer's hand exhausted.

"Looks like somebody needs a patch." He murmured, "Maybe a good old-fashioned energy bath." He shook his head, padding up the street once more, headed home, just keeping the poor worn out bit cupped in one hand as he palmed the door open with the other, managing to draw a small dish of energy all without dropping the little guy, just setting it carefully on the edge of the dish.

"I'm going to have to set up a halfway house for strays pretty soon here." he said, leaning against the table's edge to watch the bit.

The bit rolled into the dish and certainly seemed more animated once it was neck deep in energy. It started to run the perimeter of the container, getting closer and closer to the center, once there it popped into the air and then dropped back down with a small splash.

This was more like it!

At the mention of 'strays' it got up and floated to the middle of the room so it could do a better environmental scan.

Had Clu been here? That program had certainly gone astray considering it had wandered off without his bit.

Yori had not particularly been watching where she stepped, but she looked down when her foot brushed against something small and light. She stopped at once, and bent to scoop the bit up in both hands, frowning at it in sudden worry. Not normal behavior, that.

Recognizing the difference between a Grid bit and a transplant from Encom, some of the worry eased. "Hey there," she said quietly. "Not easy getting around in a new place, is it? Need some help?"

Her own energy reserves were low already, and might not be compatible with the bit's intake needs. Better to carry it to the park, Yori decided, where she could run a quick diagnostic.

The bit stirred slightly, the facets on its neutral shape shifting once, and then it went still again.

It was a quick walk to the park, even holding a nearly comatose bit. Yori sat down beside the fountain and lowered her hands, about half submerging the bit in the low-yield energy. She watched for any sign of damage beyond energy drain.

Bit bobbed in the energy for a bilicycle (because what is density?) and then came back online.

Where was it? What was this? What happened to the street? Hey this feels kind of nice.

The little thing puttered around in a circle in the fountain happily before it noticed Yori. Bobbing over to the edge of the pool it looked at her.

Hello. Did you put me here? I like this.

Clu was on his way back to the appartment in which he'd taken up residence since 'arriving' on the Grid. He couldn't quite manage to think of it as his yet; part of him was still waiting on the inahbitants of this system to decide that he was too much of a risk or a bad reminder to have around, and either try to throw him out or derezz him. Besides, strange as most programs would probably find it, he still almost felt more at home dozing in his control chair, booted feet propped up on the controls of his powered-down tank, than he did stretched out on a bed inside a normal residence ( ... )

Happiest cycle of Bit's existance weeittybittybit May 18 2011, 06:27:30 UTC
Bit jolted online with a start but it felt like a soft reboot with non of the shocking after effects of a harder alternative.

How had ... that... OH USERS IT HAD FOUND CLU!!!!!

Had it derezzed and gone to the place that good bits went to when they'd been good and done good jobs for their super amazing programs?

Who cares. Bit had Clu back! It yessed once to the question, and then darting over, rolled up and down the program's chest affectionately, letting out a steady stream, "Yesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyes."

It had missed its program so much, but it knew, it just knew the guy was alright and looking for it. Nothing was wrong on the Grid right now. If a User decided to delete the entire place today, Bit would be okay with that. Well okay, Bit would think that was the worst possible decision ever, but it wouldn't be so bad because Clu was back. Clu made everything better.

Right up there for Clu, too! :D <3 tanks4thememory May 18 2011, 07:24:12 UTC
Clu smiled as Bit rebooted, giving a happy "Yes!" to his question, then laughed as it zipped over to roll all over his chest affectionately in a flurry of yesses. He couldn't have said whether he laughed just because he was so happy to see his little friend again, because Bit's actions were kind of amusing, because what it was doing kind of tickled a bit, or some combination of those, but he didn't particularly care. Bit was here. It was alright. And that was all that mattered at the moment.

He caught Bit gently with both hand and cupped it against his chest for a long moment in the closest thing to a hug that a program could really safely do with a bit. "I missed you too, Bit," he said, smiling gently down at it. He then released it to let it float back a little, if it wanted. "Have you been looking for me all these cycles?"

This is now a slow run through a field. A field of glowing tulips. weeittybittybit May 18 2011, 23:09:02 UTC
The bit vibrated in glee. This was nice. Everything was nice. And it was especially nice to have someone that understood it. Do you have any idea how many programs had asked it where Clu had been seen last? And what was a bit supposed to say to that? Yes? No? Go derezz yourself?

It said "Yes," now though, because it had been looking for the program. It had never stopped - not even that time it gotten super drunk and ended up waking up beside some stranger. The only reason it had been in the bar in the first place was because it was trying to find Clu.

Where had he been anyway? Bit had been lonely.
