Journal Entries Were Not Meant To Have Titles

Feb 24, 2013 14:02

Yesterday, I wrote 1,574 words on Chapter Three of Red Delicious and reached The End of the chapter. And the manuscript passed the 100 page mark. Chapter Three actually came out rather long, and I'm considering looking at splitting it somewhere. Frankly, I've always approached chapters as these somewhat arbitrary things that I put into books ( Read more... )

selwyn, chapters, cats, fay grimmer, jerks, the secret world, the drowning girl, sirenia late, awards, rping, red delicious, blood oranges, "what dread hammer? what dread grasp?", alabaster, game of thrones, centipede press, the red tree

Could I finally get my little house this year?

The things I'd give to be able to afford my own place...kidney, anyone? Full working order, one lady owner.

Do you want to stay in New England, or head for warmer climes?

(Also, that great lanky beast is adorable. I badly want to put a sign in front of him reading: "Solar cells recharging. Come back later.")

I'd go if I could. But finding a sane region of the US, socially sane and culturally rick and diverse, is essentially impossible. So, after most of my life spent in the South, here I'll likely stay. Though, I do hate the cold and miss genuine summer.

I was considering moving to the States for a while, then I started reading American blogs. Somewhere between the shooting of abortionists, the "god hates fags" guy, and someone recommending getting helicopter insurance because you have to PAY to be air-lifted, I decided against it. It's such a beautiful and diverse country, with many truly amazing people, but hearing someone say they couldn't afford their medication breaks my heart. I'm not saying the UK is perfect--far from it...I really don't know what I'm saying. I think this post is the equivalent of that :-o emoticon.

(Apologies for all the random blatherings lately. Med discontinuation is making me tangential. I promise to make actual relevant posts in a couple of weeks.)

Congratulations on your nomination. You deserved it! And your Siamese, taking up all the space he can in the last photo. Oh, it gives me fond memories of my own Siamese.

I'm glad you are enjoying Game of Thrones. Lena Headey is a marvelous actress and I love Cersei for all the right and wrongs reasons that this character just exhibits. Following Cersei, my other favorite performance is Sansa (Sophie Turner.)

Congratulations on your nomination! I've re-read TDG a few times now and it's one of those rare books that is more engaging each time you read it.

Both Blood Oranges and Alabaster came in the mail this week which has made for a great weekend. Reading the two back to back has been cool, and I loved how much each piece's setting played such a big role in shaping the story and the mood. Reading them side by side like this - urban vs. rural, North vs. South, densely populated vs. practically deserted - it made for very interesting reading. And the Kathleen Tierney author bio was excellent and hilarious. Thanks for the great reads!

I'll be curious to see Fay Grimmer and Red Delicious. Good luck with your projects.

I also read both Alabaster: Wolves and Blood Oranges this week. A very nice double feature. (And Wolves was a very attractive trade hardcover: a far nicer book than the similarly sized collections from Marvel.) I was kind of hoping the Alabaster troll would be Otis.

I also finally subscribed to Sirenia Digest: I'm very curious to see how Fay Grimmer would have been.

Oh, and congratulations!
