Bitter fucking cold here in Providence this afternoon, and tonight's going to be so nasty - 6˚F, with 22 mph winds - that Spooky and I are likely cancelling our plans to drive down to Point Judith and watch the brief Quadrantid meteor showerYesterday was the most tedious sort of work day. Yep. The one night to see this meteor shower is also the one night it's going to be skin-shatteringly cold.
It's shaping up to be one of those sorts of winters I always hated when I was a kid - the "no snow days" kind.

I asked them to make global warming stop, and they listened. So, I feel kind of responsible. On the plus side the temperature ensures that army ants cannot reach any of us. So, that's good.

Today was the first day I needed to pull out the thermals. Was not amused, especially as there are drafts in this building which still make me cold.

Here it was bright and freezing and dry. It would be perfect January weather if there were actually snow on the ground. I didn't realize we were in for a meteor shower.
