"As they dwell in darkness, so shall I."

I'm haunted,
By the hallways in this tiny room,
The echos there of me and you,
The voices that are carrying this tune,
Ba da pa pa...

Yesterday is what happens when chaos and the best of intentions square off and have a good ol' Godzilla versus Gamera boxing match. We're having a couple of moderately warm days here....

'I just got a royalty check for $10.36'

Generic potato chips for everyone!

In other news, I see on the internet here that Harlan Ellison is going to be making an appearance in L.A. next Tuesday. I had thought he was...not doing well lately. Does this news, to your knowledge, portend a health uptick on his part? Have you been in contact with him lately? I'm just curious, because a few months ago he made it sound like the bony fingers were reaching for him, and now here he is appearing in public. I'd be glad if it meant he was doing better.

On the one hand, some people are too bad-ass to die, and on the other, yeah, I think he's doing better.

This is something I wonder every time I use Microsoft Word. I find it annoying for the most part.

TPTB want to take away our contractions.

Here is why Microsoft discourages contractions: It working under the assumption that you are writing PAPERS or ARTICLES of a quasi-scholarly nature. Contractions are technically not considered "Formal Speech". There may already/should be a way to change Word from "Formal" to "Vernacular". I don't think there is, but there should be.

Okay. You lost me. When I was writing paleo' papers and presenting papers at academic meetings, we used contractions. It was not frowned upon. So, when did this happen? And why?

(I was far too higgledy-piggledy to get any writing done).

Thank you for that link! I had no idea that higgledy-piggledy was a form of poetic verse (although I have always thought it a perfect title for a They Might Be Giants song).

Regarding Alabaster: Wolves, I have one friend who sought out Alabaster on eBay after I told him last week that one story is named "Waycross" and another takes place in Savannah about a group called the Stephens Ward Tea League. That connection with the South is going to sell more than a few copies just on its own. Can we hope for actual names of swamps and back roads?

Congratulations on the good comic news!
I've read the CBR interview, noting the phrase 'continuation and reimagining' of Dancy sticks in the mind and has since had me ruminating on what that means in her story.
