In Which Pooh & Piglet Tell Mr. Insomnia to Get Bent

May 29, 2011 13:30

Well, the results of my experiment were interesting, though not especially dramatic. I was up until sometime just after five. The sky was swiftly brightening, the way it does here. Almost like someone throws a switch. And just after five, I finally lay down. I hadn't expected to fall asleep. I was lying in bed, listening to Brendan Perry, and ( Read more... )

One of the coolest scenes from the original Terminator movie was when Arnold as The Terminator walks right past Sarah Conner in Tech Noir, just a split second after Sarah accidentally knocks her drink to the floor. Serendipity, meet Fate.

The scene is repeated in the second film when Miles Dyson bends over just as Sarah takes a shot at him.

Eee Baby Bill! Did you notice that one of BB's other punk companions was Brian Thompson? He was Eddie Fiori from Kindred, along with a host of other scifi and fantasy films, some good, some terribly, terribly bad.

I didn't. Then again, I never subjected myself to The Kindred (having done some writing for White Wolf, back in the day).

You know... he looked familiar, but I couldn't place him. Now that I have a name, I was able to look him up. I remember him from The X-Files.

Much as I loved Terminator, I thought T2 knocked it right out of the water.

Agreed completely.

Have you seen the new teaser trailer for Fincher's Dragon Tattoo?

Fuck, was that bootlegged with a cameraphone?

Gods, I want to hate this movie, and know I won't.

Signs point to that trailer being officially bootlegged, i.e. with Columbia Pictures's full knowledge. That video's only supposed to look bootlegged. As cleolinda put it, "They faked the fakeness."

I'm still going to avoid the whole Stieg Larsson thing (still not interested in the books), unless I hear from people that this film turns out to be reeeeeally good.

P.S. I still prefer this use of "Immigrant Song":

I jumped over to Faeblight server on Rift yesterday just to maybe get a feel for the population, activity, etc. Tried getting some discussion on an RP channel I had seen on the Rift boards, and got some immediate discussion (shocking!). Unfortunately, during that conversation it seems that the players have a suspicion that the upcoming free server transfers may only be to particular select servers (likely low-pop ones). There's been no explicit confirmation of that, so it's just a rumor, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the case.

Certainly, it's not impossible that the free transfers will only be to select, low-pop servers, and that we won't be able to transfer to Faeblight. Though, that would be awfully dishonest of Trion - no, that doesn't surprise me. Should this prove to be the case, we stay where we are, we dig our heels in. And we make it work. The whole moving to another server thing was never a guarantee of success, anyway, and I felt sort of shitty about deciding to give it a shot.
