1. I thought, the last couple of days, I was getting to that "pulling myself back together" place, having had two halfway decent nights of of sleep without fucking Ambien. Not enough sleep, no, but no hypnotics, either. Then, this morning, at four-thirty I was still awake, so I took half a pill. At 5:45, still awake, I took another half. I got the

S'what separates belief from faith, innit?
You can believe the sun rose this morning, because it did. But you can only have faith that it will rise tomorrow. Lots of folks get the two mixed up, and therein lies everything stupid.

I've not much use for faith, and do my best to avoid it.

No, I believe the sun will "rise" tomorrow, and the next day, and so on. I believe this based upon observation, observations confirming the predictive usefulness of science, which has demonstrated that the sun will continue to "rise" for quite some time to come (barring unforeseen astronomical cataclysms).

On a less metaphorical note, I am curious to see if WoW changes for you when you hit 80. The current theory among my friends is that the path before then is an Initiatory one. That the game truly begins when you hit the end
Which is actually a rather horrific thought, given the insane amount of time required to reach 80. Also, an issue that will soon be rendered irrelevant by the release of Cataclysm and the path to Level 85.

I've always found it fascinating that in Japan they believe a person doesn't really begin to learn martial arts until they receive their first black belt. Americans just don't have that same perspective. :)
I am mildly frightened how long it will take me to get to 85. Plus the journey to get decently geared for even the most basic raid is daunting indeed. I am a casual player and yet always want to see the rest of the content. Being a parent and in corporate America that is just not going to happen.
Given that I work so much in the Norse pantheon I've loved Northrend.

This. Precisely.
I've often been boggled when people somehow choose to believe in things (ie: well, if god exists, it's a safer bet to believe in him/her/it, so I guess I'll believe in god from now on). I do not comprehend how you can suddenly wake up one morning and decide to buy into a number of tenets. It's absolutely and utterly beyond me. So thank you for giving voice to what I consider to be valid belief.

As it is beyond me. Indeed, I don't think of such a thing as "belief," but, at best, self delusion.

This is off topic, but I just wanted to say I read The Red Tree and really enjoyed it.
Thank you!
