It's halfway to a summer day here in Providence green autumn. I had a psychiatrist appointment today. Those are always fun, boy howdy. Today I told her, forthrightly, that my seeing her was utterly pointless. As are most things in my life. She just stared at me. It's not that she's a bad woman, but I've dealt with psychiatry and psychology now ( Read more... )

After urging from a counselor-- whom I fired for repeatedly insisting on this urging-- I went to see a psychiatrist in 2006, after having a really useless experience with SSRIs/SNRIs in 2002. I thought that surely things had changed in four years. Surely a professional, upon hearing my symptoms and hearing what the previous drugs did and did not do, would offer me a more precision diagnosis.

"Well, we know that class of drugs did not work. So we'll try these instead."

It's like a fairground game we're all expected to play and get branded "Quitters" or "Not Really Trying" if we complain.

They've given me twenty or so diagnoses.

It almost seems like tarot readings, from what I've heard.

This morning I learned that just about the only building that has ever come close to feeling like home to me - Liberty House, on 1st Avenue North, in Birmingham - suffered a fire on the afternoon of May 22nd.

I'm sorry to hear that.

Following a divorce and termination of employment (same day) I went to see a "professional". I wound up on a combination of xanix - wellbutrin (600 ml) double dose and ambien. After a night of hallucinations I spoke one last time to said professional and never went back. The sad thing is the clown that saw me could have told me I didn't need the drugs and that would have been that.
I know there isn't much of a comparison. You need you medication.
But the good news is - we'll be seeing volume II of you best of soon.
