This is based on a recreated medieval Catalan recipe for a Lamb stew "In the Arab style." We didn't have enough lamb for the stew meat. The original also has Grains of Paradise, which I don't have yet. It's a work in progress and could use a dash of something bright to cut through the richness, or some chilies for heat. I made this last weekend, based on some pizza dough I had and a focaccia recipe. I dressed the potatoes in olive oil and herbs (thyme, oregano, parsley, garlic) and then put them on the pizza in a spiral. The crust came out crunchy and a little oily, so I wonder if the focaccia has better resources to absorb/shield it from soaking through? Thicker ( Read more... )

I've been slowly rotating through my pen collection. When my black, medium-nibbed Lamy Safari got stolen, I broke out my Lamy Vista, which is the same pen, but in clear plastic. I wish I had the recording of Townes Van Zandt talking about having bury Blaze, then dig him up because Blaze left a guitar to Townes, and the pawn ticket was in his coat pocket.

Our kitchen table is finally clean. I have both leaves of it dropped down, which makes it a long, think table with drawers on either side. It's easier to move, so we can prime and paint the dining room ceiling ( Read more... )
