I am wondering of today's weather portends a severe winter ahead. Usually in these parts, we get a few insignificant flurries before any major accumulating snowfall. Not this time. I almost forgot.

After several dry weeks, it's finally raining outside. That makes me happy, not to mention as well as the plants outside. It's parched and dusty, and this should help some. I hope it hangs in there for a while. Well, until Friday afternoon.

For the past couple days, the weather has been cool, damp and rainy. This morning was accompanied by a nice steady shower. Since this area has been in a drought for the past few months, the rain is most welcome (by me, at least). I just want it all out of Mother Nature's system before Friday's trip to Hillside.

This morning I had the misfortune of slipping on the seemingly permanent ice on the walkway in front of the house, landing square on my ass and screwing up my back. So today was spent laying in bed filled with pain killers and trying to recover. I hope this is not serious. I was laid up for months in '03-'04 with a torn muscle in my lower back. FMLA leave is great - allows me time to spend with mom and take care of her, etc. It also sucks due to the fact my paycheck becomes a big fat zero. Time off that I could combine with some needed work around the house and garage has to be metered delicately with available funds. A really nasty storm crashed through the area at around 7pm tonight. The power went bonkers several times before staying out for at least an hour. The wind was strong enough that it tore apart the 10x20 foot tent/canopy in the front yard that was set up for Jeff's (since cancelled) Graduation party. Had a nice relaxing time in PA this weekend. Jeff and I met up with our friends Tim and Rich (or as I call 'em, Big and Rich, since Rich is only about 5'6" and his partner Tim is closer to my size) first for dinner (at the Golden Corral, moooo) then for a Hershey Bears hockey game afterwards.
