Apparently the Toronto and Ottawa areas have just recently experienced a 5.5 magnitude earthquake!

So, if Canada experiences an earthquake, does it make it an "earthquehke?" ;)

SNO.M.G.Mother Nature's little snowball stand is once again having a great big giveaway. I bagged work today to wait out the resulting carmageddon on the roads and to dig out once again. Today was partially spent digging out of over 2 feet of Mother Nature's dandruff. This just might be a record setting snowfall for the area. It was not easy getting started, as Jeff and I shoveled and trudged our way around to get to the firewood and all the way to the garage, where I keep By-Tor the Snowblower. It appears that the "minor snow event" of about 1 to 3 inches has decided to get comfortable and hang around for a while. There's at least six or seven inches out there now, and it's still coming down. This dreary weather has not been kind to my achy joints, hay fever and general disposition. Since I can't do anything outside, I've been finishing up the electrical upgrades to the downstairs workshop. Today's weather was nazztuh. I bagged work yet again mainly to avoid dealing with the icy conditions, and in the afternoon went out to renew my driver's license which expires this weekend. The excruciating pain I was feeling in my knee was not subsiding anytime soon, so it was back to the doc to have needles stuck in it and shot up with steroids. Still hurts like hell. Time will tell if this is a remedy. It seems I am getting tendinitis everywhere ( Read more... )

Now that the 'net is acting a bit less flaky, I can write about it. Last night the area was hit with a winter ice storm (funny how they always happen in the winter, eh?) making for a chorus of crashes, tinkling, crackling and distant (and not-so-distant) sounds of arcing and explosions.
